GLS410 Report Viewport

You can create layout viewports in AutoCAD to display different views of a model at various scales. Using the MVIEW command, you can create one or more rectangular viewports on a layout. You specify the viewport's scale and position. Viewports allow you to represent a single model with multiple views at different scales, making it easier to show drawing details. They also allow controlling printing preferences by setting the scale directly in each viewport.

INTRODUCTION:

AutoCAD

Learning to use a CAD system is similar to learning a new language. It is necessary to begin
with the basic alphabet and learn how to use it correctly and effectively through practice. This
will required learning some new concepts and skills as well as learning a different
vocabulary. All CAD systems create designs using basic geometric entities. Many of the
constructions used in technical designs are based upon two-dimensional planar geometry. The
method and number of operations that are required to accomplish the constructions are
different from one system to another.

In order to become effective in using a CAD system, we must learn to create geometric
entities quickly and accurately. In learning to use a CAD system, lines and circles are the first
two, and perhaps the most important two, geometric entities that one should master the skills
of creating and modifying. Straight lines and circles are used in almost all technique designs.
In examining the different types of planar geometric entities, the importance of lines and
circles become obvious. Triangles and polygons are planar figures bounded by straight lines.
Ellipses and splines can be constructed by connecting arcs with different radii. As one gains
some experience in creating lines and circles, similar procedures can be applied to create
other geometric entities.

VIEWPORT

Layout viewports are objects that display views of model space. You create, scale, and place
them in paper space on a layout.

On each layout, you can create one or more layout viewports. Each layout view port is like a
closed circuit TV monitor of a view of the model at a scale and orientation that you specify.

STEPS TO MAKE VIEWPORT:

1. First make a layer for viewport.

2. Then, make a rectangular on a space that you want.
3. After that, make a new layout. To make a new layout, go to insert at the tab then go to
layout and then click the new layout and enter.
4. Next, click on the new layout space for example layout1.
5. Then, type command MView or MV in the command line and click on the rectangular
that you create at first, so a rectangular viewport is finished.
6. After that, you could zoom to show the special part of your drawing.
7. Select the viewport rectangular and go to the scale tab and click the viewport, so the
scale for the viewport will show (you can choose the scale that you want for your
viewport. Click a position outside the viewport to stop editing the view.
SUMMARY:

You can create a single layout viewport that fits the entire layout or create multiple layout
viewports in the layout. Once you create the viewports, you can change their size, their
properties, and also scale and move them as needed. With MVIEW, you have several options
for creating one or more layout viewports It is important to create layout viewports on their
own layer. When you are ready to output your drawing, you can turn off the layer and output
the layout without the boundaries of the layout viewports.

CONCLUSION:

For the conclusion, from this assignment I learn that autoCAD layout viewport are
importance because it can simplify your drawing. Then, you can always draw in full scale. It
doesn’t matter if you have 2, 4, or 10 different scales in your sheet later. We can always draw
in full scale 1:1. Even for beginners can easily complete the drawing without having to think
how they need to scale the drawing, creating different dimension styles.

Other than that, by using layout viewport, you can show different area of one model. Even we
only draw once with full scale, we can represent the model many times. We can represent the
drawing with several viewports, showing different area of the model. Sometimes we simply
need it because the model is too large for one sheet. And sometimes, we need it to show it in
different scales for detailed drawings. It also easy to you to control drawing scale. Another
good thing about layout is it’s easy to control the drawing scale. We only need to draw in full
scale. We can arrange them easily in layout. It’s not so easy to explain how to apply scale,
drawing border, and placing title block in model space to a new user. Using viewport, it’s
easier to explain. You can create a viewport, select it, and change the scale using viewport
scale at the right bottom of your screen.

It also control printing preferences easily. Printing preferences are very easy to set when you
use layout. If you are not familiar with setting up sheet in modelspace, remember that we
draw in full scale. Then we add a border and title block to include the drawing.
