General Instructions RLVD
installed in Delhi.
Red Light Violation Detection and Overspeed Violation Detection Camera System have
been installed in Delhi at strategic locations. These cameras detect the following violations done
by the motorists: -
i) Reg Light Violation at the junction
ii) Stop Line Violation at the junction
iii) Moving against the flow of Traffic (Wrong Side) at the junction
iv) Speed Violation
The motorists are advised to follow the below mentioned instructions to avoid challaning
by the system: -
i) Stop your vehicle before the stopline upon the signal lights turning red.
ii) If you cross the stopline while the signal lights are red then the system will generate
challan/ notice for stopline violation.
iii) If you cross the zebra crossing while the signal lights are red then the system will
generate challan/ notice for red light violation.
iv) Zebra crossing should be kept free from vehicles during the red light phase of the
signal as it is meant for pedestrian.
v) Do not drive your vehicle against the flow of the traffic to avoid challaning by the
system.
vi) Do not cross the notified speed limit of the road otherwise system will generate
challan/ notice for overspeeding.
The following process is followed for the disposal of challan/ notice detected by the system:
-
i) All red light violations notices/ challans are sent to virtual court within 15 days. These
challans/ notices are compounded in the Virtual Court (vcourts.gov.in) and not on
Delhi Police Website.
ii) All overspeed, stopline, moving against the flow of traffic notices/ challans remain on
Delhi Traffic Police website (delhitrafficpolice.nic.in) for 60 days and the violator may
compound the fine amount within this period on the above given website (online
payment facility). These notices/ challans are sent to virtual Court (vcourts.gov.in)
after 60 days and thereafter the violator can make the payment to Virtual Court upon
receipt of SMS from Virtual Court.
iii) The violator can pay the fine to any area traffic staff having e-challan machine.
iv) If the challans/ notices are not compounded in Virtual Court within 60 days then these
challans/ notices are sent to regular court for legal proceedings.
v) All complaints/grievances related to notices/ challans can be made online on Delhi
Traffic Website (delhitrafficpolice.nic.in) under the heading “pending notices” after
submitting the vehicle number.
