Each candidate has to pass in Theory and Practical Examinations separately.
Question paper for Elementary Computer Applications, (Compulsory paper common for B.A -
Hons/B.A-Passcourse/B.Sc- Passcourse /B.Com Part-1) be so set that it has 120 multiple choice questions
(Bilingual) of 1/2 marks each.
The question paper will be of duration of 2 hours. The examinees will have to give their answers on
OMR Sheet only to be provided by the University whose evaluation will be done based on OMR
Scanning Technology.
Further the practical examination for this paper will be of 40 marks and its duration will be of 2 hours.
The Practical Examination Scheme Should be as follows:
 Three Practical Exercises (Including Attendance and record performance )
1. Operating System 2. MS Excel 3. MS Word
4. MS Power Point 5. Internet
 Viva- Voce

Important Instructions:

● Each question should be attempted on a separate page.


● The complete assignments with respective outputs pasted should be submitted before the
deadline.
● The theory part should be written on the lined side and output should be pasted or drawn on
plain side in front on the respective topic.
● No output should be pasted on the backside of the index in order to increase the index pages if
required.
● Both coloured and black/white print outs for outputs will be acceptable.
● No Photostat of outputs will be accepted.
● Index page must be duly signed by faculty on regular basis with date.
● Every question should contain the following procedure:

1. A step by step solution of the question must be written in blue ink.


2. Every question must be performed on the system and the output must be printed using
screen shot technique and then pasted in the space provided on the blank page.
3. Every question should start in a separate page.

● Complete the assignments during the lab sessions.


UNIT 1

Q1. What is an operating system? Explain the different types of operating systems with examples.

Q2. Explain the architecture of the computer system with a diagram.


(a) What do you understand by I/O device? Illustrate with diagram.
(b) What do understand by the control panel? Illustrate with diagram.

UNIT -II

Q3. Create a New Word Document (English Type Document) and do the following tasks.

● Write about your experiences during your college admission


● Justify the paragraphs.
● 1.5-line spacing for 1st paragraph.
● Use numbering to the sentences in the second paragraph. (Insert till 5)
● Use of Drop Cap.
● Inserting 5 x5 table and shading the first row.
● Insert an Octagon and write your name in the centre

Q4. Do the following task in Ms-word name document file (.docx).

● Make the text italic, text font size 15, line spacing 2, insert page number at the left
bottom of the page, insert drop cap.
● Insert "CHEMISTRY EQUATION" as footer, header, and watermark.
● Insert the following equation.
● Perform the following task:
a. H2O, CO2, MNO2
b. Zn + H2SO4 = ZNSO4 + H2O
c. NaOH + HNO3 = NaNO3 + H2O

Q5. Make Three Column of a paragraph on environment and show the line between the columns.

· Give 0.5” left and 0.5” right indentation to 2nd paragraph.

· Give the border and shading to the third paragraph.

· Set a password using your symbol number to modify.


Q6. Make the three pages where 1st contains your resume and 3rd page contains your captures

precious moments in portrait orientation and 2nd pages contain a poem of your choice which is
landscape orientation.

· Give the different header and footer within a document.

· Set the watermark “Operator Google”.

· Save your document with a password to open.

Q11. Create 6 Slides using MS Power Point Presentation on the Annual fest of your college and perform
the following: (Write the steps).

Q13. Create and Design 5 slides on topic “My Future Goals”. Include the following:-

1. Title to the first slide : Your name and the name of your college
2. Add slide with heading “Goals in College,” then center the heading
3. Convert to SmartArt
4. Add at least three goals in each section
5. Provide Uncover down animation to above slide no c.
6. Add page number to each slide.
7. Change of slides should be automatically after 5 seconds.

UNIT-III

Q16. Create a new workbook as shown below and save the file with the name “Payroll”.

1. Enter the labels and values in the exact cells locations as desired.
2. Use AutoFill to put the Employee Numbers into cells A6:A8.
3. Set the columns width and rows height appropriately.
4. Set labels alignment appropriately.
5. Use warp text and merge cells as desired.
6. Apply borders, gridlines and shading to the table as desired.
7. Format cell B2 to Short Date format.
8. Format cells E4:G8 to include Rs sign with two decimal places.
9. Calculate the Gross Pay for employee; enter a formula in cell E4 to multiply Hourly Rate by
Hours Worked.
10. Calculate the Social Security Tax (S.S Tax), which is 6% of the Gross Pay; enter a formula in
cell F4 to multiply Gross Pay by 6%.
11. Calculate the Net Pay; enter a formula in cell G4 to subtract Social Security Tax from Gross
Pay.
a. Set the work sheet vertically and horizontally on the page.
12. Save your work.
Q17. Create a new workbook as shown below and save the file with the name “Call Statistics”.

1. Rename Sheet 1 to (Call Statistics).


2. Enter the labels and values in the exact cells locations as desired.
3. Set the row height of rows 1 & 3 to size 30; and rows 4 until 10 to size 20.
4. Set labels alignment appropriately.
5. Use Warp Text, Orientation and merge cells as desired.

Rate in cell B12. Using AutoFill, copy the formula to the remaining cells.
12. Calculate the ‘TOTAL’. 13. Set the worksheet vertically and horizontally on the page.
13. Create a header that includes your name in the left section, and your ID number in the right
section. Create the footer that includes the current Date in the center.

1. Create the worksheet shown above.


2. Set the column widths as follows: Column A: 8, Column B: 14, Columns C & D: 15, Columns

the formula to each column.
6. Format numeric data to include commas and two decimal places.
7. Align all column title labels horizontally and vertically at the center.
8. Create a Header that includes your name in the left section, page number in the center section,
and your ID number in the right section.
9. Create footer with DATE in the left section and TIME in the right section.
10. Save the file with name panda EST.

Q19. Open a new workbook and create the above worksheet.

1. Make sure that your worksheet looks like the picture (Alignment, Shedding, Borders,
Wrap text, Orientation …).
2. Find the entire customer IDs.
3. Format Colum E & D to Currency with dollar sign and two decimal places.
4. Find the Total Annual Purchases for each City.
5. Find the Average Annual Purchases for each Education.
6. Find the total number of customers from each gender.
7. Find the total annual salary for each gender in each city.
8. Create the following Chart:
