End of Line Spacing

End of line spacing refers to the spacing requirements between the end of a line edge and adjacent metal on the same layer. It is a type of design rule check (DRC) problem where the spacing is determined by constraints in the tech file. The tech file may define various end of line spacing rules depending on the situation, such as rules for end to end spacing, neighbor spacing, preferred/nonpreferred spacing, and more. Refer to the Synopsys manual for details on specific end of line spacing rules.

End of line spacing

Both end of line spacing and diff net via_cut spacing represent a type of DRC problem,
and the specific spacing requirements are determined according to the relevant
constraints of the tech file.

The end of line spacing refers to the spacing requirements between the end of line edge
and the adjacent metal of the same layer, where the end of line edge is defined as the end
of line edge when the common side width of two adjacent convex corners is less than the
threshold, As shown in the figure below, the metal wire where the end of line edge is
located at this time is called the end of line wire .

According to the specific subdivision of tech file constraints, it can be divided into the
following situations:

• End-of-Line to End-of-Line Spacing Rule

• One-Neighbor End-to-End Table-Based Spacing Rule

• One-Neighbor End-of-Line Spacing Rule

• Preferred and Nonpreferred End-of-Line Spacing Rule

• Two-Neighbor End-of-Line Spacing Rule

• Three-Neighbor End-of-Line Spacing Rule

• Three-Neighbor End-of-Line Cap Rule

• Single-Side Isolated Neighbor End-of-Line Spacing Rule

• Two-Sided End-of-Line Spacing Rule

1/2
• Two-Sided End and Joint Spacing Rule

• End-of-Line Two-Corner Keepout Rule

• End-of-Line Spacing Rule and Stub Modes

• Enhanced Dense End-of-Line Spacing Rule

• L-Shaped End-of-Line Spacing Rule

• End-of-Line to Concave Corner Spacing Rule

For details, please refer to the Synopsys Technology File and Routing Rules Reference
Manual document.
