HOW TO WRITE A MOTIVATION LETTER

1. Use the Europass template: https://europa.eu/europass/en


2. Fill in the fields in the same way as you do it for the Europass Curriculum Vitae.
3. For the “main content” field, take into account the following consideraKons:
• Make sure it is well structured. Include an opening paragraph, a body and a closing
paragraph.
• Do not repeat your Curriculum Vitae. The moKvaKon leLer is complementary to
your CV. In the moKvaKon leLer you highlight the most relevant items of your CV.
• Be brief and concise. Do not give too much informaKon as you are aLaching the CV
with plenty of informaKon in it. Do not exaggerate.
• Be convincing and posiKve. You have to state that your qualificaKons, skills and
qualiKes make you suitable for parKcipaKng in the program.
• Be personal and original. You have to be different to the rest of the applicants.
• Adapt your leLer to the company and show that you have collected informaKon
about them.
4. Useful expressions to include in your moKvaKon leLer. Choose some of them. Do not
overuse! (The numbers at the end of each sentence refer to the paragraph in which you may
include it. 1= opening paragraph, 2= body, 3= closing paragraph)
• I am currently studying to be a Higher Technician in...(1)
• I would like to take part in the Erasmus exchange program because...(1)
• I am very interested in the internship at your company as it will...(1-2)
• The possibility of living and working in another country will broaden my opKons of
geMng a job, either in my country or overseas. (1-2)
• The experience of taking part of your company during the exchange will enrich me
as a person as well as a professional. (2)
• I am sure I will do my best to fit in your company as I easily adapt to new
environments. (2)
• I think this is a unique opportunity to...(1-2)
• I have always been interested in...(1-2)
• I have excellent command in...(2)
• I have a strong moKvaKon to take part in the Erasmus exchange program.(1-2)
• The reasons for choosing your company are to...(2)
