Influence of K-Pop Culture

In the past few years, different K-pop trends came around the world. Despite the cultural barrier
between South Korea and the Philippines, it started off with Korean dramas being shown on local
television. A part of Korean culture is reaching out and making connections with the people of the
Philippines. Korean dramas have greatly influenced the food, fashion, cosmetics, music, and
entertainment industries, as well as people’s views and preferences. K-pop songs or music also became
famous around the world because of their attractive themes and choreography.

K-pop culture has a good influence in the Philippines because it has relatable Korean TV series and
films, Korean pop music with a creative theme, and Korean fashion with attractive styles of clothing. A
lot of the K-dramas that people are addicted to have one thing in common, which is that they're all
relatable. K-dramas like Boys Over Flowers, Coffee Prince, and others are relatable to us because the
characters in these series go through basically the same pains, hardships, or heartbreaks, and they also
tackle relevant social issues like discrimination and mental health. K-pop music is also a good
influence because Korean music with a creative theme brings happiness to us and also helps us forget
our problems temporarily. Through Korean dramas, Korean fashion has spread and gained popularity
among the Filipino masses. Most Filipino teens imitate their beautiful styles of fashion or clothing.
Korean cosmetics are also gaining popularity, as we are influenced by Korean actors and actresses with
radiant and flawless skin. Even though Korean culture has a good influence, it also has a negative
influence, which is that it makes us forget our own culture.

So, even if you enjoy K-pop culture, let's make sure that we never forget our own culture because
we grew up here. It's ok to enjoy other cultures, but let's also appreciate our own because we grew up
here. Anyway, although we don't speak Korean at all, meaning we don't understand a word of Korean, I
don't understand why other people keep buying the albums. I think this is an effect of the spread of
Korean music worldwide. But K-pop culture has many good influences in our country, which are the
TV series, K-pop music, and Korean fashion. TV series, K-pop music, and Korean fashion make us
feel better when we are tired and full of problems. And K-pop culture makes us feel happy.
