What weather disturbance shows in the picture?
B. Lesson Proper:
1. Motivation:
Showing a picture of the Solar System.
Tell the pupils to observe the picture and ask question.
Group 1-
Task: You work together to create an accurate visual model of the
phases of the moon using the cookies.
Be sure to include the sun, earth, the phases of the moon and
label each phase.
Group 2
Task: Use the 2020 Moon Calendar to answer the questions on the
worksheet
Group 3
Task: Draw the phases of the moon as it revolves around the earth
and label them.
Activity Proper;
Reporting of activity output
Additiotional Insights from the teacher:
• How do you find the activity?
• As you perform the activity, did all your group’s members participated?
• What particular phase of the moon you find difficult to draw.
D. Analysis/Discussion
The Earth is a place where we live. It has only one moon that
revolves around it. But the moon undergoes many phases as it revolves
around the earth.
Phase of the Moon
Waxing Crescent
• Waxing means that the bright side is
increasing. The right side is the
bright side.
• Less than one half of the moon is
illuminated.
• This phase includes any visible moon
from a small sliver to almost half.
c) Waxing Gibbous
e) Full Moon
• The moon is full and bright. It
looks like a large circle.
• The illuminated side is facing us.
• Only happens one night per
lunar phase cycle.
f.)
Waning Gibbous
g.)
Last Quarter or Half Moon
• Left Half of the moon is illuminated.
• The illuminated side is decreasing.
• This phase also only lasts for one
night.
h.)
Waning Crescent
E. Abstraction/Generalization:
1. What are the phases of the moon?
• New Moon
• Waxing Crescent
• First Quarter or Half Moon
• Waxing Gibbous

5. Does the moon shine in its own light? Why?
The moon does not have its own light. It only reflects from the sun.
F. Application:
A grade 3 pupil has sent you a letter asking you to explain why the
moon looks different almost every night.
(Present your output in 10 minutes)
Your group will present the phases of the moon through a chant
Your group will create a short play to answer the query of a grade 3
pupil.
