Q1. The combined inductance of the two coils connected in series is 0.6 H or 0.1
H, depending on the relative directions of the currents in the coils. If one of the
coils when isolated has a self-inductance of 0.2 H, calculate the coefficient of
coupling and the mutual inductance.
[Ans: 0.72, 0.125H]
Q2. Two coils of self-inductances 0.2H and 0.15H are having a mutual
inductance of 0.125H. Find the equivalent inductance of these two coils
connected in parallel if the fluxes are (i) aiding each other, (ii) opposing each
other. [Ans: 0.144H, 0.024H]
Q3. A 480/2400 V (r.m.s) step-up ideal transformer delivers 50 kW to a resistive
load. Calculate the turns ratio, primary current, and the secondary current.
[Ans: 0.2, 104.17A, 20.83A]
Q4. A 100kVA transformer has 400 turns on the primary and 80 turns on the
secondary. The primary and secondary resistance are 0.3 ohm and 0.01 ohm
respectively and the corresponding leakage reactances are 1.1 ohm and 0.035
ohm respectively. The supply voltage is 2200V. Calculate: the equivalent
impedance referred to the primary circuit, and the equivalent impedance
referred to the secondary circuit. [Ans: 2.05 ohms, 0.082 ohms]
Q5. Obtain the equivalent circuit of a 200/400V, 50Hz 1-phase transformer from
the following test data:-

S/C test : 15V, 10A, 85W - on H.V. side(HV data)
[Ans: Rc =571.4 ohm, Xm=330 ohm, Re=0.21ohm, Xe=0.31 ohm]
Q6. The open and short circuit test data are given below for a single phase 5kVA,
200V/400V, 50 Hz transformer.
Open circuit test data: 200V, 1.25A, 150W.
Short circuit test data: 20V, 12.5A, 175W.
Find the efficiency of the transformer at 75% loading with the load power factor
