Technology Scholarships 2023 24 Flyer
The positive development of the regional labour market in the sector of Information and
Communications Technology (ICT) has resulted in an increasing demand for skilled professionals.
The University of Klagenfurt is responding to this demand by training highly qualified specialists in the
ICT sector and awarding the Technology Scholarships, which aim at:
General - increasing the number of highly qualified ICT professionals,
information - enhancing diversity in the Federal State of Carinthia and at the University of Klagenfurt,
- increasing the number of international students at the University of Klagenfurt, and
- promoting the University of Klagenfurt's internationalization efforts.
Scholarship holders shall be enabled to finance the second year of their Master’s degree programme
with a paid internship, which is also part of the curriculum. The University of Klagenfurt supports
scholarship holders to find a paid internship in the first year of their Master’s degree programme.
Based on an agreement with the University of Klagenfurt, the Austria’s Agency for Education and
Internationalisation - OeAD has published the call for applications and will accompany the selection
process, award the scholarships and offer its services to the selected scholarship holders before and
during their stay in Austria.
Students who:
- want to pursue one of the following Master’s degree programmes at the University of Klagenfurt:
Master in Mathematics
Master in Game Studies and Engineering
Master in Informatics
Master in Information Management
Master in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity
Taget group Master in Information and Communications Engineering (ICE):
- Branch of Study Autonomous Systems and Robotics
- Branch of Study Networks and Communications
- Branch of Study Business Engineering
- have completed a Bachelor’s degree relevant for one of the Master’s degree programmes listed
above in one of the listed countries/regions of origin,
- can prove very good English language skills (depending on the desired study programme B2 or C1,
Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR) and
- are not resident in Austria at the time of application
Given a sufficient number of applications, 50% of available scholarships will be awarded to female
applicants.

The scholarship is awarded only in combination with the admission to one of the above listed degree
programmes at the University of Klagenfurt. Scholarship holders will be provided assistance when
booking accommodation and applying for student health insurance in Austria and upon proven academic
success exempted from paying tuition fees for the Master’s degree programme at the University of
Klagenfurt for up to five semesters.

sponsors.
The total number of University of Klagenfurt Technology Scholarships awarded depends on the quota

and/or available funds. Four Huawei Technology Scholarships will be awarded.

Proof of English skills: Level B2 or C1. For Master’s degree programme in Game Studies and
Application procedure Engineering C1 level is required. (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR)
Scan of passport (data page with name and photo)
Two letters of recommendation by university lecturers from the university at which the Bachelor’s
degree is being pursued/was earned.
*Documents for the scholarship application do not have to be legalized when applying for the scholarship. In certain cases, proof
of accreditation of the higher educational institution where the Bachelor's degree was earned might be required in addition.
**In the case that applicants haven’t completed their Bachelor’s degree at the time of application, the graduation
confirmation/Bachelor Certificate must be provided at the latest by March 26, 2023. For applicants who can enter Austria visa-free,
the graduation confirmation/Bachelor Certificate must be provided at the latest by the end of May 2023.

Please note: The principle of competition applies to all scholarships, i.e. there is no legal entitlement to a
scholarship even if all formal application requirements are fulfilled.
OeAD scholarship holders will be able to book accommodation in a dormitory with the OeAD students
