By assigning orders toa WBS element, you can analyze order costs for the WBS element and check them against the WBS clorent budget. With the help of progress analysis, you can viow progress values that reflect the status of our project relative tothe inividual WBS elements, or aggregate them according to the project hierarchy. A project can therefore also consist of a Work breakdown structure and several networks. When activities ae assigned to WBS elements, the dates and costs defined in the individual activities are aggregated atthe WBS level, and can be evaluated. Customizing settings in the Project System are used for creating and working with work breakdown structures, Features of Customizing include project profile, editing masks, user statuses, and status combination codes. Project Profile Yournust assign a project profile to the project when you create a work breakdown structure. The project profiles the most important profile for the work breakdown structure. It contahns, devauit values and profile data for the project. Wnen you create a work breakdown structure, the system saves the project profile in the project definition. When you edit the work breakdown structure, you can change the default values provided by the project profile. Values forthe project profile are maintained in Custom 2ing fr tne Project System. They can also be used toderive the hierarchy of a work breakdown structure trom the numbers oftheir WBS elements. In te Project Coding Mask table in Customizing, you define the appearence of the coding masks in the Project System. The way itis set up depends on the frst characters of the project number. These characters serve as keys for coding projecis. You can create a ‘mask for each key you want tose when coding a project. You can define Subnetworks for subretworks (until you have achieved the evel of detail you require). You can therefore create a subnetwork forthe subnetwork ror the subnetwork, and so on. Youcan also create maintenance orders as subnetworks fora superior network that can be scheduled from SAP PS, Data is exchanged between the network and the subnetwork. The assignment tothe WAS, sales order, and possibly configuration data is transferred trom the header of the superior network. The basic cates of the activity are copied as the basic dates of he header of the subnetwork. It's also possible to copy the settlement rule, the profit center and the business area. You-can also copy the relationships ofthe higher-level activity to the subnetwork. The control key of the higher-level activity is changed on the basis ofthe neiwork type of the higher-level network and ofthe subnetwork. This determines which tasks are carried out by the higher-level activity (relevance for costing, relevance for scheduling, and so 01). Suibnetworks detail activites in the main network. This can be done by manually assigning the subnetwork header to the main activity, or automaticaly using a milestone function. During the assignment, the control key ofthe main activity should be changed so that, for example, costs are not calculated twice. When planning complex projects, for example Inproject-oriented make-to-order production its often necessary to simulate and save changes to a project without actually affecting the operative project, At the beginning of a project, you can use simulation versions to simulate projects before you actually transfer them to an operative project, Simulation versions are particularly useful during the quotation phase and for comparing aifferent what-if scenarios tis passible to plan several simulation versions.
