M Exercise-No.1c

1. The document provides instructions and two problems for a leveling exercise involving taking elevation readings between benchmark stations and tabulating the results. 2. Problem 1 shows elevation readings between BM33 and BM34 and requires the student to complete level notes, check calculations, and plot the profile. 3. Problem 2 provides elevation data between stations BM100 and TP1-TP4 and requires the student to complete the differential leveling notes.

FUNDAMENTALS OF SURVEYING

EXERCISE NO. 1

LEVELING

Name:__________________________ Section:______________

Exercise No.:_____________________ Title: ________________

Direction: Solve the following problems. Use inclined engineering lettering 6 mm height.

a. Write the problem

b. Draw the sketch/diagram

c. Computing HI’s and Elevations

d. Determining Backsight and Foresight Sums

e. Arithmetic Check

f. Tabulated Solution (for Profile Leveling show the rise and fall elevation
value)

g. For profile problems - Plot of the Profile (Use scale if necessary)

Performance Assessment: (Per Problem Set)

• Accuracy – 40 points (correct answers)

• Follow the directions (5 points)

• Neatness/presentations (5 points)

• Late Submissions (deductions)

PROBLEM NO. 1: The figure below shows a schematic arrangement of a profile level route
from BM33 to BM34. The values indicated represent backsight, foresight, and intermediate
foresight readings taken on stations along the route. Prepare and complete profile level notes
for the portrayed information. Show the customary arithmetic check and plot the profile.

PROBLEM SET NO. 2: From the given data below, complete the set of differential leveling notes. Follow
the directions.

STATION BS HI FS ELEVATION
BM 100 2.95 310.25
TP 1 3.61 4.28
TP 2 3.85 4.11
TP 3 3.31 2.85
TP 4 1.38 1.75
BM 100 1.35
