MEDICAL
TRANSCRIPTION
Transcription deals in the
process of transcription, or
converting voice recorded
reports as dictated by
physicians or other healthcare
professionals, into text
format.
Medical transcription encompasses the MT,
performing document typing and formatting functions
according to an established criterion or format, transcribing
the spoken word of the patient's care information into a
written, easily readable form. It is a vital step in creating
patient's medical history which acts as a reference for
physicians and lays the foundation for future patient visits. It
helps the doctors evaluate the current physical condition
and chart out a suitable treatment plan and take quick and
correct follow-up measures.
Medical transcription is hard work. Some doctors do not
speak clearly at all, while others have heavy accents.
However, as you work on a given account you learn to deal
with how each doctor talks. Some doctor's dictation will
always be challenging, however.
WHAT IS AUDIO TRANSCRIPTION?
Audio transcription is the process of converting speech in
an audio file into written text. That could be any recording
featuring audio - an interview recording, academic research, a
video clip of your great grandmother's speech at her birthday
party or a recording of a company town hall.
