INTRODUCTION
Candidates desirous of seeking admission to Film & Television Institute of India, Pune (FTII)
and Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkata (SRFTI), leading educational institutions
in the art & craft of film making and television production, need to go through a multi-stage
selection process which includes Written Test, Audition (for screen Acting), Orientation and
Interview which is called the Joint Entrance Test-2022-23 (JET 2022-23).

The Written Test is of three hours’ duration consisting of objective and subjective questions
and will be conducted in 28 cities across India. Based on the score of the candidates in Written
Test, candidates will be shortlisted for the further stages of the selection process including
Audition (for Screen Acting), Orientation and Interview. Thereafter, on successful
accomplishment of all the requisites, candidates will be enrolled in their full time regular
programmes.

JET 2022-23 is a pre-requisite for admission to all the courses mentioned below of FTII & SRFTI.

This year, FTII, Pune is the organizing institute of JET 2022 -23 which is scheduled to be
conducted in 28 cities across India as per the dates given below.

JET 2022-23 MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

The minimum educational qualification to be eligible to apply for all courses except 3 Year PG
Diploma in Art Direction & Production Design and 3 Year UG Certificate course in Animation
& Visual Effects Design is Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, in any discipline.

For 3 Year PG Diploma in Art Direction & Production Design and 3 Year UG Certificate course
in Animation & Visual Effects Design the eligibility is as under:

Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree and awaiting results, can also
apply for all PG Diploma and PG Certificate courses.

Similarly, candidates appearing H.S.C (12th standard) or final year of Government recognised
diploma (Minimum of 2-year) after S.S.C and awaiting results, can also apply for UG Certificate
course.

However, it may be noted that such candidates, if selected, are allowed to join the course,
only if they submit a mark sheet, passing certificate, on or before 31st May 2023, from the
Controller of Examinations /Principal /Registrar or any other equivalent competent authority of
the University /Institution /College, stating that the candidate has appeared for his/ her
graduation examination / H. S. C. Board examination /final year of minimum 2-year
Government recognised diploma after S.S.C and he/she is a graduate/ Passed.

RESERVATIONS

In each course, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled
Tribe (ST), 27% for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the “Non-Creamy” layer
(OBC-NCL), and 10% for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) as Gen-EWS. Further, 5% of
total seats are reserved on horizontal basis for Persons with benchmark Disabilities.
As defined in ‘The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act 2016)’, “person
with benchmark disability” means a person with not less than forty percent (40%) of a specified
disability where specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes a
person with disability where specified disability has been defined in measurable terms, as
certified by the certifying authority. “Specified Disability” means the disabilities as specified in
the Schedule of the RPwD Act 2016. The candidates belonging to the PwD categories are
further required to refer to the prospectuses of participating institutes and note the eligibility
requirements carefully before applying.

NOTE
a. No change in the category will be entertained after JET2022-23 registration. Hence, the
candidates are required to give due care while registering. SC, ST, OBC-NCL, Gen-EWS and
PwD candidates must upload a copy of their SC / ST/ OBC – NCL/ Gen.-EWS/ PwD
certificates in the prescribed form at the time of registration / applying.

b. Candidates claiming OBC-NCL status may please note that the OBC certificate, including
Non – Creamy Layer status should have been issued on a date within one year before the
closing date of receiving application i.e. midnight of 04.03.2022 onward

c. Candidates claiming PwD status should submit latest certificate in the prescribed form which
should have been issued on a date within six months before the closing date of receiving
application i.e. midnight 04.09.2022. Otherwise the PwD candidate must have permanent
validity certificate.

d. General candidates claiming EWS category/ status should submit latest certificate in
prescribed form which should have been issued date within one year before the closing date
of receiving application i.e. midnight, 04.03.2022.

e. Certificates not fulfilling these conditions (issued before the mentioned date) shall
be held invalid and the candidature of such applicant(s) shall automatically get
cancelled at the stage of document verification or may be considered as General, as
the case may be, from the initial sage, that is Written Test.

Instances of any incorrect information or violation of process detected at any stage of the
selection will lead to immediate disqualification of the candidate from the selection process
and he/ she will not be allowed to appear for JET in future. If such instances go undetected
during the current selection process but are detected in subsequent years, such
disqualification will take place with immediate effect.
PAYMENT OF JET 2022-23 REGISTRATION FEE

(The JET Registration Fee shall be accepted only through online modes of payment.

Please note that for the courses which are offered by both institutes, a candidate needs to pay
registration fee only once, and he/she will be considered for admission to both institutes.

A candidate can apply maximum one course from Group A, one course from Group B,
and one course from Group C. Fee paid is non – refundable, non – transferable and non –
adjustable under any circumstances. Bank charges for online transaction will have to be borne
by the applicant.

REGISTRATION FOR JET 2022-23

The registration window opens at 4:00 pm on 03.02.2023 and will close at 11:30 p.m. on
04.03. 2023. The details will be available in the registration guide on the JET website.

At the time of registration, the candidates must select test two cities as per their preference
from the drop down menu. After the last date of registration, candidates will be allotted one
among the two preferred cities. In the rare case that a candidate is not allotted any of the
preferred cities, he / she will be allotted a nearby city. The candidates can download the admit
cards from 10.03.2023 to 17.03.2023.

NOTE: Admit cards will not be sent by post or by email


TEST CENTRES

JET 2022-23 scheduled to be conducted in centres spread across 28 cities. Admit card with
the name and address of the test centres will be available on the JET website from 10.03.2023.

The institutes reserve the right to change or cancel any test centre/ city and/or change the test
time and date at its own discretion.

Test Cities: Agartala, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar,


Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Itanagar, Imphal, Jaipur,
Jammu, Kolkata, Leh (Ladakh), Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi,
Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Port-Blair.

QUESTION PAPER DETAILS


The Written Test will be of 3 hours for 100 marks, as per details below.

Paper I: (Time provision 60 min.)


Part A: Multiple Choice Questions (Single Answer type): 20 marks [on OMR sheet]
Part B: Multiple Select Questions (MSQs): 30 marks [on OMR sheet]

Paper II: (Time provision 120 min.)


Descriptive Answer Questions: 50 marks.

EVALUATION PROCESS

Paper-I of all the eligible appeared candidates will be evaluated.

Further, based on the evaluation of Paper-I, Paper-II of Written Test, only selected nos. of
top scoring candidates (based on the respective category) will be evaluated using the
following ratio against each seat:

1. For all the courses except FTII’s Screen Acting course:


i) Unreserved, OBC-NCL and Gen-EWS: 1:15 (One seat:15 answer-sheets)
ii) SC, ST, Gen-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD & Gen-EWS-PwD: 1:25 (One seat:25 answer-sheets)
iii) SC-PwD and ST-PwD: 1:35 (One seat:35 answer-sheets)
2. For FTII’s Screen Acting Course *
i) Unreserved, OBC-NCL and Gen-EWS: 1:45 (One seat:45 answer-sheets)
ii) SC, ST, Gen-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD & Gen-EWS-PwD: 1:75 (One seat:75 answer-sheets)
iii) SC-PwD and ST-PwD: 1:105 (One seat:105 answer-sheets)

* (The eligible candidates of this course need to additionally go through Audition Test process)

In the case of common courses, the ratio for shortlisting candidates at each stage is on the
basis of total number of seats available at FTII and SRFTI.

JET 2022-23 SCORE

Candidates' JET 2022-23 score card will be made accessible on the JET website. JET 2022-
23 score is valid only till December 31, 2023 and will accordingly be accessible on the website.
Thereafter, no queries (online/offline) related to issuance of JET 2022-23 score cards will be
entertained.

ADMISSION PROCESS

Performance in JET 2022-23 Written Test is an important component for consideration in the
selection process. On the basis of performance in Written Test, the list of candidates short-
listed for the next level of selection will be made available on the website of both the institutes.
Please visit the websites of the institutes and read the prospectuses carefully for more
information.

Step 1: Written Test [(Paper-I & Paper- II) on 18.03.2023 & 19.03.2023]

Step 2: On the basis of the performance in Paper-I, Paper-II of only selected nos. of
top scoring candidates (based on the respective category) will be evaluated,
as per the ratio mentioned in evaluation process. Roll numbers of the
candidates shortlisted for evaluation of Paper-II, will be published on the
website of JET2022-23

Step 3: On the basis of the performance in Paper-I + Paper- II, Candidates will be
further shortlisted for Audition (only for Screen Acting), Orientation and
Interview for all other courses except Screen Acting.
Step 4: (For all other courses except Screen Acting) On the basis of the performance
in Written Test (Paper-I & Paper-II) + Orientation + Interview, final joint merit
list of FTII & SRFTI will be published.
(For Screen Acting) On the basis of the performance in Written Test (Paper-I &
Paper-II) + Audition, Result-1 will be prepared. Further, on the basis of
orientation and Interview, Result -2 will be prepared. Final selection will be on
the basis of Result-1 and Result-2, each containing 50% weightage.

Step 5: After publishing joint merit lists, preferences will be obtained from the
shortlisted candidates. Based on the preference(s) and merit, candidates will
be selected to a particular course in FTII & SRFTI. This counselling may be
carried-out offline in Pune/Mumbai/ Kolkata OR online OR through system
software etc. Necessary information in this regard will be published on FTII,
SRFTI and JET 2022-23 websites.

MEDICAL TEST

Candidates who are selected for the courses will be required to undergo Medical Test as per
the selection criteria of both institutes. Procedure of the Medical Test shall be communicated
to the selected candidates by the respective institutes.

Candidature of a selected candidate can be cancelled on the basis of the outcome of Medical
Test. Decision of respective institutes in this regard would be final & binding on all concerned.

and SRFTI respectively.

IMPORTANT

1. Both FTII and SRFTI are free to verify eligibility of candidates at any stage of the
selection process and after admission.

2. Candidates are required to read the prospectus of both the institutes for eligibility,
course details and also for the detailed admission process.

3. Candidates should note that the mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria will not
ensure consideration for short listing by either of the Institutes.
4. All important information on JET 2022-23 including any subsequent Corrigendum /
Changes /Updates shall be made available on the FTII & SRFTIwebsites only.

5. Candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a mobile
phone number throughout the selection process and should simultaneously track the
JET website and website of participating institutes for updates. The participating
institutes will not be responsible for any non-receipt of intimation to a candidate.

6. The JET 2022-23 scores are not allowed to be used by any other institute except the
participating institutes i.e., FTII & SRFTI

7. Any dispute concerning JET 2022-23 would be subject to jurisdiction of the competent
courts within the territorial jurisdiction of Pune city only.
