The document provides a detailed lesson plan for teaching Tag Questions in English 7. The objectives are for students to state and explain the rules of Tag Questions and construct their own sentences using them. The lesson plan outlines procedures for reviewing a previous lesson, introducing the new topic through an activity, explaining the rules of Tag Questions with examples, and checking for student understanding. The main points are that Tag Questions follow a subject (pronoun) + verb (auxiliary verb) pattern and that if the statement is positive, the Tag Question is negative.

Very good! Tag questions or question

tags are composed of a statement and a
question. We use tag questions if we
want to verify information that we know is
true. Tag question also follows a pattern
just like in creating or making a sentence
pattern. Tag questions have a pattern of
subject (pronoun) + verb ( auxiliary verb).
For example, kindly read our first
example. (Student will read the example).
Yes, Trystan. Trystan: She is beautiful, isn't she?

Very good! Thank you, Trystan. In this (Student answer may vary.)

Then what is our verb?
Yes, Kirsten. (Student answer may vary.)

( Student will read the example.)
Rainier: He is a doctor, isn’t He?
What is our subject in the sentence? (Student answer may vary.)
Rainier: She

Very good! How about our verb? (Student answer may vary.)
Yes, Trystan. Trystan: Is

Very good! Now that you can identify our

subject and the verb used in the
sentence you can easily understand what
is a tag question. But, we have some
pointers in using tag questions.

For our first pointer. Kindly read,Borj. Borj: If the statement is positive, the tag
question is negative.
Thank you, Borj. It says that if the
statement is positive, the tag question is
negative.

For example:
You are happy, aren’t you?

Another example:
Today is a great day, isn’t it?

The statements “You are happy” and

“Today is a great day” are both positive.
While the tag questions or question tags
are both negative.
Is that clear, Grade 7?
Students: Yes, Miss.
Okay can you give me an example using
our first pointer?
(Student answer may vary.)
Yes, Brenda. Brenda: English is your favorite subject,
isn’t it?

Justin: If the statement is negative, the

Very good! Now, let’s proceed to our
question tag is positive.
second pointer. Kindly read, Justin.

Thank you, Justin. Our second pointer is

the opposite of our first pointer wherein,
our statement is negative so that we will
use a question tag that is positive

Let’s use the examples from our first

pointer and change it from positive
statement to negative and our tag
questions from negative to positive.

For example:
You aren’t happy, are you?

Another example:
Today isn’t a great day, is it?
The statements “ You aren’t happy” and “
Today isn’t a great day “ are both
negative. That is why we use the tag
questions “ are you?” and “ is it?” in
which it is positive.

Are there any questions about our Students: None, Miss.

second pointer?

Okay can you give me another example? Rainier: It is not going to rain, is it?
Yes, Rainier.

Very good! Another example. Asia: He didn’t bring his books, did he?
Yes, Asia.

Very good! Do you understand our Students: Yes, Miss.

second pointer?

Very good! Now, let’s proceed to our last Zion: The question tag after “ I am” is
pointer. Kindly read. Zion. “aren’t i “ or “ain’t I”.

Thank you, Zion. It says that if our

subject is “I” or “I am/ I’m” the question
tag that we use is either “ aren’t I “ or
“ain’t I”. For example, Kindly read,
Yes, Cassidy. Cassidy: I often come home late, aren’t I?
I often come home late, ain’t I?
Very good! Thank you, Cassidy. In this
example what is our subject?
Yes, Farrell. Farrell: Our subject is I, Miss.

Very good! Farrell. Our subject is the

word I. As what we said our pointer if our Students: aren’t I or ain’t I.
subject is I we use the tag questions?

Very good! Can you give me an Jazmin: I am a hardworking student, ain’t

example? I?
Yes, Jazmin

Very good! Jazmin. Another example. Cassidy: I am a shy person, aren’t I?

Yes, Cassidy.
