Topic: This and These Time: 50 minutes

Standard: FL1.1: Understanding and ability in interpreting what has been heard and read from various types of media, and ability to
express opinions with reasons.
Indicator: 3. Choose the pictures corresponding to the meanings of words and groups of words heard.

Terminal Objective: To identify the differences of “this” and “these”.


Enabling Objectives:
Information/Motivation To predict today’s lesson by doing activities.
Input/Control To explore the form, meaning, use and some examples of “this” and “these”.
Focus/Working To practice using “this” and “these” by playing game and do some exercises.
Transfer/Application To identify the differences of “this” and “these”.

Teacher’s Personal Aim: To teach and encourage students to learn and understand.
Expected Behaviors: To identify and describe how to use “this” and “these”.

Form: This + is + a/an/the + singular noun.
These + are + plural noun.
Meaning:
- This is: A person, an animal, or a thing that is present or near in place, time, or thought or that
has just been mentioned. “This is” always uses with singular noun.
- These are: More than 1 person, animals, or things that is present or near in place, time, or
thought or that has just been mentioned. “These are” always uses with plural noun.
Use: To tell about something near you.

3. Pronunciation (Accuracy): This /ðɪs/, These /ðiːz/
4. Functions (Reasons for communicating): To tell something that nearer or more immediately under
observation or discussion.
