Pascals Principle

1. Pascal's principle states that pressure applied to a confined fluid is transmitted equally in all directions throughout the fluid. 2. Hydraulic presses use Pascal's principle to multiply force. They consist of two connected cylinders, one with a smaller diameter and one with a larger diameter. 3. Because the area of the piston is larger than the plunger, the force applied to the piston is multiplied, allowing heavy objects to be lifted or compressed.
