The story is about a proud rose that insults an ugly cactus for its appearance. When a drought hits, the cactus is able to survive due to its ability to store water, while the rose wilts. The kind cactus shares its water to save the rose. The moral is to not judge others by their appearance and appreciate their inner qualities instead.

Good Morning all the honourable judges, teachers, my all elders, And my dear
friends. I am Aayush on the behalf of ZPHS Kondapur going to present a beautiful
moral story in front of you. The title of my story is “the proud rose and the kind cactus”. My dear friends, before going to start my story, I want to share a beautiful thought with all of you. Do you know the difference between ugly and beautiful things? Sometimes the ugly thing can be, more beautiful than the stunning looks, due to their course of actions. My dear friends, do you agree with me? If not, let me take you with me, towards, a beautiful story and its moral. I am very sure that, it will help you to feel that, the inner beauty is more beautiful than the outer cover. hope you all will enjoy my story. Once Upon a time, in a faraway desert, there was a wonderful rose, who was so proud of her beautiful looks and normally rose is liked by everyone. One day Cactus said to Rose, you have beautiful petals and I wish I can have beautiful petals like you. Rose said, not everyone will get such lovely petals. Look at you. You are so ugly with dangerous thorns so everybody keeps you away. My only complaint, I am growing next to an ugly cactus like you. Every day, the beautiful rose, would insult and mock the cactus, on his looks, all while, the cactus remained silent. All the other plants nearby, tried to make the Rose see sense, but she was too swayed by her looks. One scorching summer, the desert became dry, and there was no water left for the plants. The Rose quickly begins to wilt. Her beautiful petals dried up, losing their lush colour. Rose was about to die and when she looked at the cactus, a Sparrow was dipping her beak into the cactus and drinking water. Even though ashamed, the Rose asked the cactus, can I have some water? The kind cactus agreed to help the Rose, even though both were through the tough summer, as friends. With the help of the ugly cactus, the rose got a second life. So my dear friends, did you like my story? In real-life situations, we can judge the strength and weaknesses. You know that usually, nobody likes the cactus plant because of its looks but, the cactus has an advantage compared with other plants. Its fleshy specialized stems can store water for a long time. The cactus also got a waxy coating on the stems which reduces the evaporation of water. When cactus fully grow up it can store around 756 litres of water during a good rainfall. Since rainfall is rare in the deserts the cactus can survive easily. My dear friends the moral of the story is, “never judge anyone by the way they look”. In real life, we are seeing people with different looks, colours or races. But, we should not judge anyone, by their colour, appearance or beauty. We all are human beings, with equal human rights, and we all are the children of the almighty God, with different capabilities. As well as, we shouldn’t hurt anyone by their look or disabilities. I am very sure that, this story will teach all of us, about our real-life situations, to deal with others always, with respect and in a better manner. Believe me, in our real life, if we follow it, that can be extremely useful and change our lives. Thank you so much for patiently listening to my story. I am signing off. Bye
