Assignment N0 3

This document contains an assignment for a Quantitative Tools for Managers course. It includes two questions about statistical analysis: 1) analyzing the distribution of data on library branch numbers and 2) analyzing a study on the relationship between egg consumption and blood cholesterol levels. For the first question, students are asked to create a frequency distribution and histogram of the data and determine if the distribution is normal. For the second question, students are asked to answer questions about the study such as the population, hypotheses, data collection, and statistical tests used, and to summarize the conclusion.

Q. No. 1 (Topic: Normal Distribution) [CLO-3]

Many times in statistics it is necessary to see if a set of data values is
approximately normally distributed. There are special techniques that can be
used. One technique is to draw a histogram for the data and see if it is
approximately bell-shaped. The numbers of branches of the 50 top libraries are
shown.

2. Construct a histogram for the data.

3. Describe the shape of the histogram.

The Shape of the histogram according to the analysis is right which is positively
skewed.

4. Based on your answer to question 3, do you feel that the distribution is

approximately normal?

Base on histogram skewness the data is given is not the normally distributed data.

Q. No. 2 (Topic:Hypothesis Testing) [CLO-3]

The Incredible Edible Egg Company recently found that eating eggs does not
increase a person’s blood serum cholesterol. Five hundred subjects participated
in a study that lasted for 2 years. The participants were randomly assigned to
either a no-egg group or a moderate-egg group. The blood serum cholesterol
levels were checked at the beginning and at the end of the study. Overall, the
groups’ levels were not significantly different. The company reminds us that
eating eggs is healthy if done in moderation. Many of the previous studies
relating eggs and high blood serum cholesterol jumped to improper conclusions.

Using this information, answer these questions.

1. What prompted the study?

The main reason to conduct this study is to see if eating eggs does or does not
increase a person’s blood serum cholesterol.

2. What is the population under study?

According to the given study the population in the study is five Hundred American
adults.

3. Was a sample collected?

Absolutely the sample was collected to conduct a research study on it.

4. What was the hypothesis?

The results of blood serum cholesterol of two different groups no egg group and
moderate egg group conducted in research. Null hypothesis because the results
were not significantly different.

5. Were data collected?

Yes the data is collected from different peoples five hundred American adults
participated in a study that lasted for 2 years to analyze blood serum cholesterol
level.

6. Were any statistical tests run?

7. Two
