Forum #1 Lab - Research a Hardware Upgrade
Introduction
Use the Internet to gather information about hardware components. Your customer’s computer
currently has one module of 2 GB of RAM, a 500 GB hard disk drive, and a PCIe video adapter card with
256 MB of RAM. Your customer wants to be able to play advanced video games and use Revit and
Lumion. His target game is: Cyberpunk 2077 in RT High or RT Ultra setting. Based on the apps´
requirements select parts to do the upgrade. (You can look at local or external sellers)
Instructions
Step 1: Research CPU options.
Shop around, and in the table below list the brand, model number, features, and cost for two different
CPUs. The first must be an AMD processor and the second one an Intel processor.

Question:
Based on your research, which CPU would you select and why?
Step 2: Research motherboard options.
Shop around, and in the table below list the brand, model number, features, and cost for two different
MOBOs. Make sure both motherboards are compatible with the processors you selected in the previous
chart. Example: Processor 1 must be compatible with MOBO 1. Processor 2 must be compatible with
MOBO 2.
