1. What is Troubleshooting?
 Troubleshooting is the process of identifying and resolving a
problem, error or fault within a software or computer system
when it becomes faulty or unresponsive.

2. What is the need of Troubleshooting Security?


 One need troubleshoot security as it allows to determine,
before performing a possibly unsafe or sensitive operation of a
software or computer system and to overcome from that
problem.

1. How do you troubleshoot a computer?
 To troubleshot a computer:
 Free up RAM by closing other open programs.
 Shut down and restart computer.
 Scan for viruses and malware.
 Use the Internet to find help.
 Undo any recent hardware or software changes or updates.
 Uninstall and then reinstall Operating system.

2. How to troubleshoot common computer problems?


 To troubleshot common computer problems:
 Reboot computer
 Determine causes of problem
 Check all cables and connections
 Remove temporary files and data
 Web search for problems found
 Install available updates
 Run a thorough virus scan
 Update Software
 Defragmentation
 Reinstall Operating system

3. Your computer turns on, but still doesn’t work.


 If computer starts but not working then first possibility is faulty
power supply, to overcome this problem check internal power
supply first. If it is working properly then another possibility is
with RAM and motherboard and to troubleshoot this, check
with another SMPS and RAM. If still faces the same problem,
then problem is with motherboard.

4. You get the blue screen of death.


 Blue screen error is the beginning dump of physical memory. It
shows the problem with Operating system, Application, Virus,
RAM, Mother board, Hard disk or boot file. To troubleshot this
error, one need to use bootable pendrive and run boot process
through it and reinstall operating system.

1. What are basic of troubleshooting?
 The basic steps for troubleshooting are as follow.
 Restart computer
 Scan for viruses and malware
 Free up hard disk space
 Uninstall unnecessary program
 Run disk scan

2. Write down the steps of OS Troubleshooting.


 Steps for OS troubleshooting:
(i) Restart computer, press swift and restart simultaneously and
choose repair option on screen.
(ii)If it is boot loader problem then use command prompt and
type following commands bootrec /fixmbr OR bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd .
(iii) If OS is corrupted then it can be reinstalled or upgrade using
bootable pendrive or cd. To run bootable device open boot menu
then select bootable device, choose OS version and language, and
click on upgrade.

1. What is Recovery?
 Recovery is the process of retrieving deleted, inaccessible, lost,
corrupted, damaged or formatted data from secondary storage
device.

2. Why do we need recovery?


 Recovery is needed to salvage necessary deleted, lost,
corrupted and formatted data.

 Several different tools for recovery are:
(i) Backup and Restore tool in control panel
(ii)By creating recovery drive

 Hard drive troubleshooting is finding and solving errors of hard
drives like No detection error, SMART error, Bad partition
sectors on hard drive, error during POST process in computers
system.

2. Why do we need Hard drive troubleshooting?


 Hard drive troubleshooting is necessary for failed drives in
computers without scheduled backups. Hard drive is an
essential part of computer system and as it stores all data and
file systems, its troubleshooting is required to overcome the
problem of data corruption or lost.

1. What is basic troubleshooting for printer?
 The basic troubleshooting for printer:
 Check cartridge
 Check printer has sufficient papers to print
 Check USB cable and WIFI connection to the printer
 Check drivers

 The basic troubleshooting for laptop:
 Restart laptop
 Check battery, adapter and cable
