This document shall address the typical work for plasterboard ceiling installation work at KM5 May21 new
building.

3.0 Primary Requirement

3.1 Coordination Requirement


3.1.1 Identification of existing services and structure around the working area.

3.2 Other Operation Requirement


3.2.1 Work access to the construction area need to confirm and approved by Kinetics.

3.2.2 Location for storage and the type of material to store must be approved by
Kinetics.

3.3 Receiving
3.3.1 Once material received on site, prepare to unload and arrange inspection with
Kinetics QAQC for approval before delivery to site for installation work.

3.3.2 Receiving/Handling/Storage for all materials must comply manufacturer’s


recommendation & IMCS

3.3.3 Upon arrival of the material, the consignment shall be verified by the supervisor to
match the packing list and inspected by Kinetics QAQC & Client.

3.3.4 All material received at site shall be visually inspected for any damages.

3.4 Handling
3.4.1 By manual handling, safety concern and safe equipment operating techniques.
Workers to avoid overloading the transporting equipment while moving materials.
Controlled by Site Supervisor.

3.4.2 Supervisor shall monitor the work and ensure the work is complied with all safety
requirements.

3.5 Storage
3.5.1 Proper barricade & barrier ownership tagging to be used for materials storage.

3.5.2 Stored material must not create a hazard for employees.

3.5.3 Keep storage areas free from accumulated material that cause tripping, fire, or
explosions, or that may contribute to the harboring of rats and other pest.

3.5.4 Daily housekeeping shall be carried out to ensure the cleanness of the area.

3.5.5 Controlled by Site Supervisor.

4.0 Work Activity Methodology / Arrangement

4.1 Site Preparation


4.1.1 Planning the best route for the access to get in and out

4.1.2 Investigate & coordinate of existing buildings, structure, M&E which may affected
the progress of the works.

4.1.3 Identify the storage location for materials, tool and equipment.

4.1.4 The working areas must be barricade using barricade cone and safety tape to
avoid people to enter the working area.

4.2 Mobilization & Installation

No Activity Sequence
1 a) To inform related Project Manager, System Owner and KINETICS EHS
management before start work for the day.

b) To obtain the entire relevant valid EHS document, SIPP and PTP before start
work.

c) To assign all the workers, staff to attend safety induction before start work.

d) Get the valid permit for the workers and machinery to enter the site.

2 a) Inform the Project Manager or person in charge before start work

b) Detail of the activity to be performed shall be informed/briefed and explained


before starting work.

c) Precautions must be taken before and during activity in accordance with DOSH
standard and Intel Safety standard.

d) During the progress of activity, the work shall be under the continuous
supervision of a supervisor.

e) Provide safeguards, including related signages, barricades, temporary fences,


warning lights and other similar items that are required for protection of all
personnel during all activity involved.

3 Covid-19 Prevention

a) Body temperature reading has to be taken at least once in a day and


temperature screening is a compulsory requirement before entering to the
workplace.

b) In order to ensure the workplace is safe from virus, temperature of every


individual must be within the range which is not more than 37.4 °C and not less
than 35.0 °C.

c) Always maintain 1M social distancing. Face shield is required to be worn anytime


and anywhere.

d) To use hand sanitizer frequently.

e) Food sharing is not allowed.

f) Always remind workers to practice hygiene.

g) Face mask to be worn anytime and anywhere.

h) Avoid unnecessary body contact.

i) If found abnormal of body temperature, kindly report it out to Kinetics EHS and
Intel EHS. Required to go to Kulim Hi-Tech government hospital for further
checkup.

j) All other standard Covid-19 safety measures and procedures by Intel and
Kinetics to apply and follow strictly throughout the entire progress.

4 Mobilization of tools and workers

a) To inform related Project Manager, System Owner and EHS Management before
start work for the day.

b) Obtained the entire relevant valid EHS document before start work.

c) All Vehicles to comply the wheel stopper when loading material.

d) Shall be use manpower to mobilize the materials into the work location and
storage area with proper signage and barrier ownership.

e) Get advice from KINETICS project management team for the location for material
storage.

f) Shall be used forklift or pallet jack to mobilize the materials into the work area if
necessary.

5 To brief the workers on the job sequence and streamline their job for hazard
avoidance prior work starts.

6 a) To prepare the power supply to the working area by using extension wire for
temporary lighting at night.

b) Surrounding electric cable to be de-energized 1st before proceeding to other task.

 Site activity will not commence until confirmation that all the planning and
safety checks are completed.
 Supervisor shall be familiar with the shop drawing and method of statement.
 To inform and obtain prior approval from Kinetics EHS, Project Coordinator
before start work.
 To use mobile scaffold or ladder for work at height.
Setting-out
 The ceiling installation location to be marked out for reference to follow.

Introduction
 This Method Statement describes a proper work procedure shall be carried
out during the Gypsum Plasterboard Concealed Ceiling Installation works
stage as per stated in shop drawings.

Control Measures
 To build live mock-up section for QAQC (QAM) inspection and buy off before
proceeding with installation work.
 Line walk with relevant parties.
 Arrange a meeting before start the job with together with Kinetics and Intel.
 Make sure supervisor monitor closely the job.
 To comply with proper PPE such as safety helmet, face shield, face mask,
safety boots, hand glove, safety vest and ear plug.
 Workers must wear safety harness and hooked at solid structure.
 Scaffold erected by qualified personnel and supervised by scaffold supervisor.
 Weekly inspection by scaffold supervisor.
 Guard rail, mid rail and toe board should be erected at scaffold platform.
 Spotter must be full time below the working area.
 To ensure that ladder being used inspected, tagged and safe to use.
 Buddy system while using ladder.
 Three-point contact at ladder.
 Spotter must be full time below the working area.
 Barricade the work area with relevant warning and safety signage.
 Secure tools, materials and equipment in proper method when working. Use
strap or buckets.
 Ensure all power tools were inspected and tagged before operating it.
 Use the right tool for the job.
 Operate tools according to the manufacturers' instructions.

 To check live system if already works are completed entire at above ceiling
level.
 To use mobile scaffold or ladder to work at height.
 To ensure the level set by the main contractor at the respective floors as
follows: Setting point to the areas are set to the required ceiling level.
 To ensure mark the ceiling level for the ceiling channel are on the side of the
wall.
 To fix the plaster ceiling in accordance to the method of installation.
 To Inspect metal stud and track are properly assembled and set before the
plaster ceiling is to be ready for installation.

Installation of Ceiling Framework and Concealed Ceiling Board


Work Procedures
 To make sure all required live system work above ceiling level are completed.
 To determine the actual ceiling level & mark around the perimeter of walls.
 Fix vertical hanger using galvanized channel and rod according to shop
drawing thick metal furring channel spacing at 900mm center to center one
way with the one end securely screwed to roof purling or ramset to concrete
slab and another end to be securely screwed to horizontal metal furring
channel.
 All ceiling plug will be installed through a bored hole on the ceiling (only when
applicable) according to shop drawing specification.
 The thread rod and screws shall be connected to the ceiling plug to hold the ‘C’
channel. Aligned perpendicularly at a specified distance based on working
drawing.
 Using cordless drill / power tools or hand tools.
 Screw on hanger rails to vertical hangers using 25mm galvanized screw.
 Screw on furring channel opposite direction of hanger rails at 450mm.
 The full piece Boral Mini8 board is fastened onto ceiling frame using 25mm
galvanized screw at 600mm center at field of board. Screws are fastened
10mm edge of board at 600mm center to center.
 Next piece of board is fixed using same procedure until cut piece at end.
 Molded “L” box is then fixed flush finish with ceiling board using 25mm
galvanized screw. Fixing of ceiling pelmet need to be done during the fixing of
the ceiling for the ceiling works as described in the first fixing of ceiling
framework.
 Fixing of access panels is done after installing Boral Unispan board and prior
to plastering works to ceiling board.
 A minimum clearance of 100mm is required to maneuver manhole cover.
Determined location of access panels (offset distance from wall) is marked.

 Opening are made to ceiling using saw.

Plastering the Ceiling Board


Work Procedures
 After all the ceiling boards are securely concealed, first coat of jointing
compound is applied to board joints.
 Perforated paper tape is adhered to thin layer of compound and firmly pressed
to release air bubbles.
 Allow time to dry.
 Second coat of jointing compound is applied for a smooth and seamless
surface finish.

Opening to Ceiling Board for Mechanical & Electrical Fitting


Work Procedures
 To mark and confirm all position of light fitting, speakers, air-conditioning
diffusers, signage & etc.
 Cut ceiling opening to accommodate the fittings by using piecing saw.

8  Housekeeping at end of each working day is a must.


 Supervisor to monitor and check to ensure worker perform the
housekeeping daily.
 All equipment has been cleaned and stored correctly away from access
areas.
 Never leave equipment in walkways or doors.
 Ensure that all the rubbish and debris have been cleared accordingly and not
to dumbed at Intel rubbish area.
 All fire exits and emergency access points are kept clear at all times and is
never blocked by equipment or rubbish
 Report any hazards you might find to a supervisor promptly.
 To dispose the waste and debris in the designated dumpster or transfer to
disposal depot using a wheelbarrow.
 Before leaving the site each day, make sure that clean-up has been
finalized and no hazards are visible.

5.0 Inspection, Testing and Commissioning Proposal


Inspection and test plan (ITP) shall include at the following stage.

a) Perceiving of materials/ machinery


b) In-process inspection during installation
c) Final stage before handover
d) Mockup Inspection before start installation
e) Pre and Post Test during and after installation

ITP shall also address the “Hold Point”, where approval on the work activity is required.
