CS1103 Learning Journal Unit 1

The document summarizes a student's learning journal from the first unit of a Java programming course. The student discusses completing initial readings and videos which covered arrays vs arraylists, switch statements, and enumerations. They also posted in an online forum about exceptions and received positive feedback. The first programming assignment was very difficult, taking three days to complete due to issues running the software, but the student is gaining more advanced Java knowledge each week and their skills are improving. They realized that with sufficient time investment, they can master any topic, and plan to pursue a programming career.

CS1103 Learning Journal Unit 1

I began by reading the study guide, doing the reading tasks, and watching the two videos that
the teacher had given.
The movies discussed the differences between arrays and arraylists, switch statements, and
enumerations.

began with a forum conversation about handling and catching exceptions.

I believe I did well because I received encouraging comments from my peers and because the
coding example I gave in my post was useful.
I responded to three of my peers' posts after five minutes and saw their views on the subject,
which was quite helpful.

I'm actually pretty pleased of myself for having accomplished this level because I never
imagined it was possible and I always believed I had a limit, but I recently disproved those
beliefs.

I actually got two replies from my peers and they were both positive replies. They said that my
explanation was clear and understandable

In actuality, I feel both anxious and excited.

It's difficult for me to express how excited I am about using Java or just the concept of it.
Although I am little concerned about how difficult it is given that the first assignment, which
should have been the easiest, turned out to be so difficult, I am somewhat concerned about the
upcoming task.

For the first week of a course, I did learn a lot.

I gained knowledge of the switch statement, algorithm analysis, the try..catch statement,
exceptions and exception classes, the try statement, exception throwing, required exception
handling, and finally exception programming.

What surprised me and caused me to wonder is how tough would be the future programming
assignments because from what I see the first programming assignment was really tough in this
course

The programming challenge this week was undoubtedly difficult for me.
It was difficult since I had trouble getting the software to run and kept running into errors. It took
me about three days to figure out how to get the program to run.

I am beginning to learn a lot more advanced stuff about Java programming and my programming
knowledge just keeps growing and now it started to be easier to use Java and fix any bugs I
could face
As a learner, I came to the realization that if I invested the necessary time in the course or any
other learning material, I could master anything.
I have learned a new skill in this course, and I will master it by pursuing a career in
programming.

I can use experience gained to do some app development in futur
