Animal Cruelty
“Hello, everyone. Thank you for having me today. My name is Aileen Mae Lasagas, and I am going to be
speaking to you today about animal Cruelty.
Think about switching positions with animals, imagine being a experiment subject in the lab, imagine
being in a cage locked up, sleeping in the streets while raining, having to eat scrap foods from the
garbage, beaten to death because you stole foods to survive the day. Animals like peoples have feelings,
they feel pain, sorrow, or even joy. So why animals are treated like as they are? Millions of animals are
neglected each year around the world and Every 60 seconds, one animal suffers abuse. Close to 65% of
all abused animals are dogs. Every year, more than 10 million animals die from abuse in the US alone.
Animal cruelty is one aspect of the larger set of problems related to animals. Animal cruelty can take on
many forms, from failing to provide necessary care for a short period of time, intentionally killing or
repeatedly assaulting them, and most of the common thing they do is neglecting them.
Stray pets are a man-made problem. Animal cruelty leads to Neglection or abandonment that causes of
stray animals. Most of the street animals in the Philippines are cats and dogs. The Philippines has around
13 million strays according to philstar.com as of Nov. 3, 2022. Twelve million stray cats and dogs roamed
the Philippines last year, with many shot dead in pounds or dying of disease and hunger. Some street
animals also get involved or cause road accidents which leads both human and animal to injuries or
death. Neglecting animals and abandoning them causing them to be stray that Is making them like a
pollution in streets because of the uncontrolled breeding, making a generation to generation of street
animals.
In order to reduce the number of stray pets is to first, get your pets neutered, it does not only prevent
making generations to generations of street animals, but it also has health and behavioral benefits to
pets. For the homeless pets you can rescue, foster, bring them to an animal shelter or even keep them
forever. This will contribute to fewer pets and animals in streets who are homeless, which will result in
fewer animals being put to death each year. By doing this we can make sure that they will not suffer
again and decrease the number of accidents we have each year.
Street animals will be now less likely to get involved in any accidents or abuse scenarios due to animal
cruelty. There would be less homeless, neglected, abused and deaths to animals on the street, that’s
more than 10 million lives per year that could be saved. Imagine a world where peoples care about
animal rights.
In conclusion there a lot of animals that are experiencing cruelty and mistreatment around the world.
Animal cruelty is serious issue and that results problem related to animals that also affects humans. By
simply supporting this advocacy it can help millions of animals, we should be aware of how to address
this issue to reduce its severity. Solving it and seeing the effect of it and benefits, it can make a big and
amazing change in our society. It is my advocacy to fight animal cruelty and help neglected animals to
find their forever homes
