The document reviews related literature on animation in gaming. It discusses how animation has evolved from basic sprites to create immersive 3D worlds. Good animation can improve immersion and convey important information, while poor animation can detract from the gaming experience. The document also examines studies on how animation motivates players and elicits emotional responses, as well as the role of graphics and how animation and pictographs impact engagement with narrative visualizations.

According to juegoadmin in 2022,when most people think of animation, they

think of cartoons or movies. However, the animation is also used in the gaming industry

to create realistic and lifelike 3D worlds. When it comes to animation, gaming has come

a long way. Gaming animation started with basic sprites used to develop a sense of

movement. Over time animation gaming has evolved into something truly immersive

and can transport you into another world. Most animation companies for gaming for

many years.

Animation can have a significant impact on the gaming experience for players.

Good animation can make the game feel more immersive and believable, making it

easier for players to suspend their disbelief and become fully engaged in the game

world. Additionally, animation can be used to convey important information to players,

such as the health or status of a character or enemy. On the otherhand, poor animation

can be jarring and take players out of the game, negatively impacting their overall

experience. Overall, animation plays an important role in the overall feel and playability

of a game.
According to Sihombing (2004), graphic design employs a variety of elements such as

markers, symbols, verbal descriptions which are visualized through typography and

images with photographic techniques or illustration. The elements are implemented in

two functions, as visual devices and communication devices.

According to Suyanto (2004), graphic design is defined as the application of art and

communication skills for business and industry needs. These applications can include

advertising and sales of products, creating a visual identity for the institution, products

and companies, and environmental graphics; design information; and visually enhance

the message in the publication.,

The writer can conclude that graphic design is combination among words, pictures,

numbers, graphics, photographs and illustrations to create something special or very

useful image which aims to deliver the information and the messages of the picture

In August 5 2012, Heiolen Marcus conducted a study about the animation is in

general perceived much more entertaining than text or still images. Animation can also

be used to motivate the player and it isn't unusual to find small rewarding animations in

games. The Sims series for instance has lots of small animations used a rewarding. The

interesting part in Sims' use of animation is that the animation rewards are used also for

negative effects, which further encourages the player to experiment with the game and

toy around with its functions. Finally, animation may be used to create an emotive
response in the player. While this is of course way more harder than simply adding

some animation, games are often played for their emotive effect and animation offers a

natural way to communicate the desired message.

Graphics play an important role in the initial appeal of a game and less of a role

once a player has become familiar with the game. Maybe the reason i don’t consider

graphics to be an important part of my favorite games is that i’ve played those games so

much that the graphics have blended into the overall game environment and have

become just another part of the tool that lets me play the game.(Trey Walker)

In May 2018,ACM published a study about pictographic representations and animation

techniques are commonly incorporated into narrative visualizations such as data videos.

General belief is that these techniques may enhance the viewer experience, thus

appealing to a broad audience and enticing the viewer to consume the entire video.

However, no study has formally assessed the effect of these techniques on data insight

communication and viewer engagement. In this paper, we first propose a scale-based

questionnaire covering five factors of viewer engagement we identified from multiple

application domains such as game design and marketing. We then validate this

questionnaire through a crowdsourcing study on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk to assess

the effect of animation and pictographs in data videos. Our results reveal that each

technique has an effect on viewer engagement, impacting different factors. In addition,

insights from these studies lead to design considerations for authoring engaging data

videos.
