1) Discuss the meaning of independent learning and explain its

boundaries

→ Independent Learning is learning that is self-directed. The learning is defined,

organised and completed by the learner. Educators (experts) may act as facilitators or
guides. However, the learner is encouraged to plot their own path and to value their
own research as well as input from peers on the same level as information and
guidance that they may gain from teachers (experts). With independent
learning, students do their own research and ask questions, rather than relying
solely on the materials that their teacher or instructor hands them. They also take
ownership of their educational path by setting their own goals and monitoring their
progress or Independent learning is a method or learning process where learners
have ownership and control of their learning – they learn by their own actions and
direct, regulate, and assess their own learning. The independent learner is able to set
goals, make choices, and decisions about how to meet his learning needs, take
responsibility for constructing and carrying out his own learning, monitor his progress
toward achieving his learning goals, and self-assess the learning outcomes.

3) Talk about your own experience regarding the difficulties you

faced at university

My experience :
Another common obstacle is learning to adapt to the differences between university and high
school. You may have difficult classes, more homework, and you’re now responsible for
managing your own time.
2
 Time management
Every student with the intention of surviving in school must be good with time
management. Time is very precious and once lost, cannot be regained. There’s
only so much to be done in 24 hours. In order not to be faced with the problem of
uncompleted assignments, lateness to lectures, carryovers etc, learn to manage
your time well.
 Health
Students are prone to health risks. In the course of trying to meet up with set goals
of coming out tops, some students have unconsciously turned to book worms, they
do nothing else but read round the clock without taking breaks and eating healthy.
This has caused many to break down.Apart from this, infections are easily
contacted when more than three students have to stay in one room as well as share
the same toilet. For students who stay in campus hostels, this is a big challenge.
 Depression
The cases of depression in Universities and Colleges has gotten to the peak.
Students get depressed for various issues such as poor performance, relationship
trauma, rape etc
