A REPORT ON ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

INTRODUCTION
The pre-MBA programme had started on 14th July 2011 and end on 19th July 2011.The programme consist of different sections like ice breaking exercises, developing memory skills, positive attitude & motivation, personality development, effective learning methodology, planning for a successful career & Etiquette, manners & professional behaviour.

The first programme was an ice breaking section which was conducted by Students Initiated Responsibility Team. Team had arranged a treasure hunt game for us. Everybody had participated in the game with the full involvement of team spirit. It helped us to understand about the team coordination and to achieve the goal within a limited period of time. Then they had given us a 5 minute to arrange a program which was completely entertaining to others. At that time each team could performed there level best showing their creativity. Then we had a class about the MACFAST approach taken by Rev.Fr.Pradeep Vazhatharamalayil.MACFAST believes that the true purpose of education is not just imparting knowledge, but also encouraging personal empowerment of every individual with the desire for self development. Then the third section was about positive attitude and motivation by Mr.Sudeep B Chandramana.He had shown some motivational clippings. Last section was creative exercises by students initiated responsibility team. On 15/7/11 we had a section about developing memory skill by Mr. Tom Zachariah. Memory is mainly

classified into sensory memory, short term memory and long term memory. Systematic memory consist of intake (by reading, hearing and seeing) , processing (association, differentiation. Evaluation), storing and retrieval. On 16th July 2011 we got a great opportunity to visit HINDUSTAN NEWS PRINT LIMITED located at Kottayam. HNL is a Government of India Enterprise under the administrative control of the Department of Heavy Industry, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. The company has an installed capacity of 1, 00,000 MT per annum for producing 49 & 45 GSM newsprint. There we saw various manufacturing stage of paper. On 17th July 2011 our first section was based on effective learning methodology taken by Mr.Vijayamohanan. He taught us about the learning pyramids and also the accelerated learning techniques. Minimum six hours sleep is needed for a healthy human body. The Brahma muhurtham for studying is morning 3 to 6 O clock. The next class was about the personality development taken by principal. For a better personality think & feel good about yourself, learn from failure, having clear goals, never give up, take regular action, clarity &conviction in communication

etc.Col.Dr.G.G Mathews had taught us about the topic towards becoming a competent professional.Ms.Sneetha Saji taught the topic communication skills. Its a two way process. Then SIR team had took a class about the students initiated campus in MACFAST.Every student of the MACFAST family is a part of this initiative.Mr.Anil G.S then explained about the 2 YEAR MBA at MACFAST.Mr.shibu Itty Mathews had explained about the radio MACFAST.The aim and objectives of the RADIO MACFAST includes achieving social change and development objectives and to empower communities to speak for themselves, to give a voice to the voiceless and to be a force for social and economic good. Then Mrs.Nisha Jose had taken a section based on etiquette, manners & professional behaviour. She taught different techniques to face an interview by competing mapping.Dr.Judith Hollows taught some techniques for planning for a successful career. There was also a concluding section at the end of the programme. Each representative from both batches had given their feedback about the orientation programme.
