Goulash soup - a one-pot dinner dish
Today, another intense, warming winter soup.
Goulash soup will be perfect as a main dinner dish
with crispy, fresh bread, noodles or rice. The
traditional Hungarian goulash soup is made of beef or
veal and simply resembles goulash, especially if it
has a lot of ingredients. Meat doesn't have to be
expensive. On the contrary, I often make goulash
based on cheaper types of beef, such as leg, roast beef
or ligawa. Meat should be cooked for a long time, or,
for example, stewed in the oven before adding
vegetables. Vegetables include potatoes, carrots,
parsley, onions, tomatoes and of course red peppers
in large quantities.
I like strongly spiced goulash soup, with an intense
mix of spices, including caraway seeds and hot
peppers. In addition, I put sour cream or natural
yogurt on the table to soften the hard hit for those
who prefer delicate flavors.
Goulash soup
Smoked bacon also appears in some goulash recipes
for added flavor and aroma. You can also try
chopped smoked sausage in this role. Some recipes
also include sauerkraut. Goulash soup combined with
Polish bigos, i.e. a Hungarian Pole…. :)
Hungarian soup from the city of Szeget
I like one-pot meals. Little washing up, and a well-
composed mixture of smells, colors and flavors is
second to none. They function in almost all cuisines
of the world. French coq au vin or chicken stewed in
wine, Belgian carbonade flamande or beef with
vegetables and beer, Jewish cholent - there are many
examples of such dishes, and all of them stem from
the need to prepare tasty, nutritious food for loved
ones, in a simple way, not requiring time and effort ,
way.
