Atomic and Nuclear Physics

This document describes an experiment to determine Planck's constant by measuring the wavelength of light using a prism and varying the voltage until the photocell detects no current. The setup includes a prism, photocell, mercury lamp, power supply, measuring amplifier, and other optical equipment. The procedure involves dispersing the light wavelengths with the prism, adjusting the opposing voltage until the photocell current is zero, and making sensitive current measurements.

Objects of the experiment

 The wavelengths of the light are dispersed using a direct-vision prism.
 The opposing voltage U is tapped from a DC voltage source via a voltage divider, and varied until the anode current is
compensated precisely to zero.
 Conducting sensitive measurements of the anode current.
