“PROPOSED MULTI-SPECIALITY HOSPITAL”
INTRODUCTION
A Hospital is a Residential establishment, which provides short term and long term
medical care consisting of observational, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services for
persons suffering or suspected to be suffering from a disease or injury and for parturient. The
Hospital is an integral part of a social and medical organization, then function of which is to
provide for the population complete healthcare, both curative and preventive, and whose out-
patient service reach out to the family in its home environment; the hospital is also a Centre
for the Training of health workers and for Bio-social Research.
A hospital is a health care institution providing patient treatment with specialized medical
and nursing staff and medical equipment. The best-known type of hospital is the general
hospital, which typically has an emergency department to treat urgent health problems ranging
from fire and accident victims to a sudden illness. A district hospital typically is the major health
care facility in its region, with many beds for intensive care and additional beds for patients
who need long-term care. Specialized hospitals include trauma centers, rehabilitation
hospitals, children's hospitals, seniors' (geriatric) hospitals, and hospitals for dealing with
specific medical needs such as psychiatric and certain disease categories.
Hospital is the most visible face of healthcare industry. It provides a platform where the
practitioners of medicine integrate the healthcare technology with the living process. They can
be grouped by various classifications like ownership, type of systems, etc. but they all are
planned to provide a layer of health care, which ordinarily cannot be provided at home
This project considers the category of General Hospitals, Non-Government i.e. Private
hospital, medium scale hospital (450-500 beds), Regional hospital.
The proposed Multi-Specialty Hospital will serve to the Medical Departments like Oncology,
Cardiology, Orthopedics and Neurology, Nephrology & Urology.
AIM
To design a Multi-Specialty Hospital, which could serve to the public health and represent
the Indian healthcare facility.
OBJECTIVE
• To provide a comfortable and user friendly healing environment.
• To implement patient oriented design strategies
• To understand the complexities of Hospital design- How different departments,
different equipment’s, OT’s, common facilities are interlinked.
• To understand the components of healing environment.
• To understand, learn and apply the typology and circulation patterns of a Hospital
design.
• To design for the special case scenario, where the capacity of patents needs to be
served are more, like in pandemic cases or flu spread, huge accident nearby etc.
The concept of Biophilia is formed by the combination of the word “Bio” and “Philia” .Bio stands for
the word “being alive” and, Philias refers to the attraction & positive emotions people feel for certain
living spaces and beings in the natural environment”
• Being in a hospital or at a doctors office. These are areas of high stress for patients, their
families and employees who spend a lot of time there.
• By providing only 10-15mins with nature can improve health challenges. It reduces – Blood
pressure, Heart rate, muscle tension and calm the mind.
• Biophilic design in healthcare improves patients healing and well being.
• The psychological effect of the environment inside the hospital can be solved by
intro.Natural environment inside, impacting patients mental psycology.
