Fundamental Operations On Integers

The lesson plan provides instruction on addition of integers. It outlines objectives, subject matter, procedures, generalization, evaluation, and assignment. The procedures section describes teacher and student activities including reviewing integers, motivation through a song, presenting rules for addition of integers, worked examples, and problem solving applications. The evaluation has students work additional practice problems. The assignment asks who first used the modern symbol of equality and has students compute sums to find the answers.

Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, student should be able to:
1. Identify the rules of addition of integers.
2. Perform the addition of integers.
3. Relate the addition of integer in real life application.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Topic: Fundamental Operations on Integers
B. Subtopic: Addition of Integers
C. Reference: E-Math Grade 7
By: Oronce and Mendoza
D. Materials:
Laptop
Earphones
Internet Connection - Wifi
Power Point Presentation

III. PROCEDURE
TEACHERS’ ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

A. DAILY ROUTINE
Our Father, Who art in heaven
1. Prayer
Hallowed be Thy Name;
(The teacher will call a student to lead
Thy kingdom
the prayer)
come, Thy will be
done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who
trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
2. Greetings
Good morning, class!
Good morning, ma’am!
3. Checking of Attendance
Class Secretary, are there any absent?

(The class secretary will answer)

4. Review
Integers
1. What is Integers?

An Integer is a whole number consist of positive

and negative integer including zero.
2. Example of positive and negative integer
Positive Integer if it is greater than zero.
Example; 1, 5,7 112, 207 …
Negative Integer if it is less than zero.
Example: -1, -10, -100, -207 …

B. MOTIVATION

(Video Song)Adding Integer

The students will sing also the adding integer
Same signs ADD and Keep
-4 + (-3) = -7
Different signs SUBTRACT
-4 + 1 = -3
Use the sign of the bigger number
Then you’ll be exact!

C. LESSON PLAN
Rules of Addition of Integers
Rule 1: If the signs are the same, add and keep the The student’s will read the rules
same sign.
(+) + (+) = add the numbers and the answer is
positive.
(-) + (-) = add the numbers and the answer is
negative.
Rule 2: If the signs are different, subtract the
numbers and use the sign of the larger number.
(+) + (-) or (-) + (+) = subtract the numbers
and take the sign of the bigger number.
Add the following;
1. 6 + 5
1. 11
2. 7 + (-3)
2. 4
3. (-10) + 2
3. -8
4. (-5) + (-4)
4. -9
5. 18 + (-11) + 3
5. 10
6. 31 + 70 + 9 + (-155)
6. -45
D. APPLICATION
A football team took possession of the
football on their 42-yard line. In the next three
plays, they lost 6 yards, gained 4 yards, and then
lost 8 yards. On what yard line was the ball at the
end those three plays.
Solution: Start at 42, then lose 6, gain 4 and lose 8
42 + (-6) + 4 + (-8)
Answer: 32
Try these: The student’s try to answer the problem solving
A football team took possession of the
football on their 20-yard line. In the next three
plays, they lost 5 yards, gained 6 yards, and lost 2
yards. On what yard line was the ball at the end
those three plays.
Solution:
Start at 20, then lost 5, gained 6 and lost 2
20 + (-5) + 6 + (-2)
Answer: 19
