Section A Essay Plan Template:
1. Title of topic: The Brought of South Sea Islanders labourer to Queensland, Australia
Migration can be defined as the moving of humans from one country to another or moving
from one place to another place. There are different types of migration and it’s due to some
reasons. This essay will base on Pacific islanders’ labours who were taken to Queensland
Australia under the indentured labourers system. There will be three positive impacts and
challenges will be discussed. And will propose three factors to adjust and adapt in
Queensland Australia. Lastly, it will show how sociology fits the discussion and then
provides reasons.
1
In 1863 tens of thousands of Pacific islanders were taken to Queensland. The transportation
of Pacific islanders was fixed by European settlers as the indentured labourers were not only
to Australia but also to a few Pacific islands such as Fiji.
4. Justification;
Three positive impacts of your chosen type of migration in receiving country [Avoid
relying on personal interviews only]
Evidence 2;
The second positive ct of indentured labourers stated in the article is that South sea islanders
gain an opportunity offer by the Queensland government as they promise to give them the
equality to take part in and endue to the cultural life, social, economic and political, of
Queensland.

Evidence 3;
The third positive impact revealed in this source is a Community of South sea islanders built
in Queensland. The few South Sea Islander Islanders remaining in Australia are the founder of
the South Sea Islander community today in Queensland. The people living in that community
today are the decedents of South Sea Islander slaves.
Evidence 1;
One of the challenges faced by the South Sea Islanders under the migration of indentured
labourers was blackbirding. The source information that due to the demand for labour in the
sugar and cotton industries in Queensland, a recruitment ship went to the pacific islands and
kidnapped and tricks islander without no idea where they are going. The source also shows
how south sea islanders face hardship at Queensland.

Evidence 2;
Racial discrimination is one of the challenges that were faced by the South Sea Islanders. The
source provides evidence that said that white Australians refer to the S.S.Islanders as
aborigines. They want the islanders to deny their origins so they can be eligible for Australia
benefits and to have their own right for land.

Evidence 3;
The last challenge faced by South Sea Islanders was many of them died due to poor medical
care. An Information shown in the source above, state that 14, 564 S.S.Islanders died around
1868 and 1906. The larger number of death was due to no immunity on islanders to protect
themselves from chicken box and measles.
Propose three factors which will assist newly immigrants to adjust and adapt in their new
country of residence (This needs to be your own personal view. So you don’t need to
provide a resource for this section).
Supporting fact 1:
Honest is one of the factors that will let new immigrants to adjust and adapt in their new
country of residence. When there is Honest in the government and the people of the new
4
country do what they want to do to them and do it to others, the new immigrants will love to
stay on a place or country like that.
Supporting fact 2:
Government of the new country of residence should create a law against racism. Everyone’s
are the same because we are all human. Racism is one of the factors that cause people to
migrate to another country, so we should make plans to stop racism around the world.
Supporting fact 3:
Government and communities should help each other to build up working industries to lethe t
unemployed work. Because one of the major factors that let people move to another country is
the lack of job industries.
5. Propose how Sociological Imagination best fits your discussion and provide two
reasons for your answer.

https://www.nu.edu/blog/what-is-sociological-imagination . Retrieved 10th October, 2022.
Supporting evidence:
Sociological Imagination is best fit to apply to my discussion because I imagine the hardship that
was faced by the South sea islanders by the harsh treatment done by the Queensland society.
Another reason is that Queensland never treats islanders equally to them because of racism.
