Lyrics

Hey, Dad, look at me

Think back, and talk to me
Did I grow up according to plan?
And do you think I'm wasting my time
Doing things I wanna do?
But it hurts when you disapprove all along
And now I try hard to make it
I just want to make you proud
I'm never gonna be good enough for you
Can't pretend that I'm alright
And you can't change me

'Cause we lost it all

Nothin' lasts forever
I'm sorry I can't be perfect
Now it's just too late
And we can't go back
I'm sorry I can't be perfect

I try not to think

About the pain I feel inside
Did you know you used to be my hero?
All the days you spent with me
Now seem so far away
And it feels like you don't care any more
And now I try hard to make it
I just wanna make you proud
I'm never gonna be good enough for you
I can't stand another fight
And nothing's all right

'Cause we lost it all

And nothin' lasts forever
I'm sorry I can't be perfect
Now it's just too late
And we can't go back
I'm sorry I can't be perfect

Nothing's gonna change the things that you said

And nothing's gonna make this right again
Please don't turn your back
I can't believe it's hard just to talk to you
But you don't understand

'Cause we lost it all

And nothin' lasts forever
I'm sorry I can't be perfect
Now it's just too late
And we can't go back
I'm sorry I can't be perfect

'Cause we lost it all

And nothin' lasts forever
I'm sorry I can't be perfect
Now it's just too late
And we can't go back
I'm sorry I can't be perfect

The teacher will ask the following question:

1. What have you understood from the song?
2. What do you do when your parents don’t support
your plan?
3. Take a stand on a statement: We never know the
love of our parents till we become parents ourselves.

In this activity you have shared your opinion on the

certain topic and for today’s lesson our topic is
“Share on the personal opinions on the ideas listened
to”.
E. Discussing new concepts and Lesson Proper
practicing new skills #1
What is an opinion?
An opinion is a view or judgement formed or made
about something or someone that isn’t necessarily
based on something that is factual. An opinion is a
personal judgement, thought, or belief.

Last time we’ve discussed the Factual information Factual Information is a statement that can be verified
or proven to be true while Subjective Content is a
and Subjective content. So, class again what is
statement that involves judgement, feelings, opinion,
Factual information and Subjective content? So intuition or emotion.
subjective content is the same with opinion.

Sharing opinion is an act of telling people of what you

think about a subject or situation.

Signal words to use when sharing opinion:

 Introducing an opinion
1. In my own opinion…
2. In my own view…
 Expressing agreement
1. I agree with this idea
2. The idea is right
 Disagreeing with an opinion
1. I don’t agree with your idea
2. I don’t think so

Example of Opinions
 In my opinion Rizal Park is one of the most
beautiful parks I’ve went so far.
 I agree that Black pink is the most popular K-
pop girl group in the whole world.
 The TV shows in ABS-CBN are more
entertaining than the shows of other
channels.
 Maria Clara at Ibarra is better than Darna.

F. Discussing new concepts and In order to share your opinions in the ideas listened
practicing new skills #2 to you must listen effectively so that you can give an
accurate opinions.

There are eight guide principles for effective listening

Our first guiding principle for effective listening is to

stop talking.

When you heard the words stop talking, what comes

first to your mind?
Students answer may vary
1. Stop talking!
Remember, you cannot listen if you are speaking.

That means that you can be an effective listener if you

know how to listen to the speaker.

Example: If the teacher is discussing or explaining

anything about the lesson you should stop talking to
your classmate so that you can easily understand the
lesson.

2.Pay attention! Give your full attention to the

speaker. You cannot communicate if both parties are
not actively involved in the process.

Second is to pay attention, as a listener you should

give your full attention to the speaker to avoid
misunderstanding and also to know what the speaker
wants to say to the listener.

Example: If your teacher is talking to you, you should

give your pay attention so that you will not ask a lot of
questions after the discussion.

Did you understand?

3.Read nonverbal cues. Along with hearing and

processing the words of the
speaker, you should pay careful attention to the nonve
rbal language being communicated. Watch
for eye contact, facial expressions, gestures, posture
changes, and any physical responses (i.e., fidgeting).

Does anyone here know what is spoken poetry?

Can you give some gestures you use when you recite
some poem?

As a listener, you should know the importance of

Nonverbal cues because every gesture has a different
meaning. One of examples is the eye contact.

What is eye contact?

Can you easily guess the emotion of the speaker if you

cannot see their eyes?

The speaker uses eye contact to communicate with the

listener.

4. Ask questions. A good way to ensure that you have

accurately understood the message is to ask questions.

Next is to ask questions, you are a good listener if you

ask questions or if you want to know more.

5. Resist distractions. Stop doodling! Do not shuffle

papers, draw, or doodle when you are listening.

Stop doing anything while listening to the speaker.

6. Don’t interrupt! Even though you may get angry

or upset by something the speaker says, do not
interrupt. Let the speaker finish, and resist the
temptation to focus on your emotional response to
the speaker’s words.

Don’t interrupt the speaker, if you want to ask

anything let the speaker finish first before asking
anything.

7. Open your mind. Try to look at the situation from

the speaker’s point of view and not just your own. Be
flexible.

8. Paraphrase. Use your own words to mirror what

you have heard. Restating information in your own
words helps you to remember what you have heard
G. Developing mastery (Leads to The teacher will read some scenarios the students will
Formative Assessment) share their opinions on the ideas they listened to.

1. You are at the shopping mall with your best friend.

You go into your favorite store.Your best friend picks
up a really cool shirt and quickly stuffs it in her bag.
She says that she usually does it and has never gotten
caught. As a friend you can’t tell her that it is not right
so you just ignore what she did and you just go home
without telling it to the owner or the manager of the
store.
 What is your opinion about this? Do you think
ignoring what her friend did is right?
Students answer may vary
2. You have seen a classmate in your class cheated
during the third periodical test. He got almost a perfect
score while you got a failing score. So, you tell it to
your teacher and your classmate receive a punishment
and got a zero score in the test.
 State your opinion about the scenario.
