Activity
Exercise involving mobile learning / online discussion, an inter-class texting/chatting session.
Students are requested to text or to chat someone about something that is relevant to what they
are doing in class. This encourages the students to synthesize and to make interconnection of
the information they gained during a class discussion. For example, “What was the most
challenging point/lecture in today/ last session’s class?” or “What questions do you still have
about today/ last session’s lecture?”
Personally, the question I have right now is that the fluency of every speaker. I am well
informed that in purposive communication we are expected to produce a high-quality paper.
Also, we are expected to deliver a message in an understandable manner. So, my question is how
can we students be able to deliver a well-constructed message consisting the basic principles or
writing in just a short period of time?

Application
Topic: Someone keeps hiding your belongings and thinks it’s funny.
I choose this topic because I have seen a lot of happenings that falls in this scenario. I
have seen my previous classmates played the same tricks and that is the reason why I chose it. If
I am the person being bullied, at first, I might just let it go after saying my words. I honestly
don’t like being fooled around so if it happens again, I might as well report it to my superior or
deal with it myself. I am used to defending myself way back when I am still a kid so I knew
some kind of techniques to deal with them. Back when I was still young, I have been in to
different troubles, I’ve seen a lot of people who has been bullied and was not able to fight back.
So, if I am to experience the same thing, I will do my best to make them realize that making fun
of people is never funny. I will make sure that they will regret playing other persons’ feelings. I
might play the same game with them just so they will know that it is never easy to be fooled
around knowing that you did not do anything wrong to anyone.
Reflection
Direction. What does it mean to say you should use language appropriately in your speeches and
in your writing?
When someone told you that you should use language appropriately in your speeches and
writing means that you have errors using standard English. The works you’ve made may be
redundant, you might not be good enough in using standard English. Using appropriate wordings
in delivering speeches and in writing really means a lot. There are same words with different
meanings and there are also words which has the same meaning but different words. If a person
asks you to use appropriate words it means that there is still room for improving.
