FS 2 Learning Episode 5 : Preparing the Learning Environment: An

Overview

At the end of this Learning Episode, FS students must be able to:

 revisit the concept of learning environment in the context of the current
teaching and learning situation.

Participate and Assist

What will you do to assist your mentor in setting up a conducive learning
environment in the following conditions:

1. Bulletin Board Display _________________________________________

2. Small Group Discussion
________________________________________
3. Checking class attendance in a virtual classroom (i.e. google meet or
zoom)

Notice
Learning Environment 1:
 What have you noticed of the display in the class bulletin board? What
message or theme does it convey? ________________________________
 What makes it attractive to the learners? ___________________________
 Does it help in the learning process? ___ How? ______________________

Learning Environment 2:
 If the teacher is using a distance delivery of learning through the modules,
where is most likely the learning space of the students? _______________
 Can you describe? ____________________________________________
 How can you as a teacher help to make such environment conducive for
learning? ____________________________________________________
The examples above, describe the two contrasting situations. The first shows that
the learners are in the same room or space while in the second, the learners maybe
in different learning spaces like homes, study hubs, or in extreme cases parks or
under the trees.
As a teacher, in which of the two situations would you prefer to manage for
learning? Choose between Learning Environment 1 or Learning Environment 2.
Explain your choice: Why?
Learning Environment 1 because learners learn best when they are in the safe
environment which we ensure their safety and welfare in learning and for us to avoid
accident just in case. They can also learn because they have something to see such
as materials to ponder and learn from that that was posted on the corners of the
classroom.

REFLECT
Based on my noticing and analysis, I realized that
a. I realized that in order to assess the learning of our students we should also ensure
their place to learning because it creates an impact on what learning environment
they are in. But of course, they could also learn at home or any different places as
long as we are ensuring their safety but it's different when they are actually in the
classroom, they could be able to communicate with their classmates well, they could
also play and at the same time we are developing them to become an autonomous
learner. They are experiencing their learning through classroom setting and that is
they know how to react and response in the teaching and learning process.

REFLECT
Based on my noticing and analysis, I realized that
a. When students feel secure and accepted in their classroom environment, they are
far more likely to share their thoughts and feelings. This enables the teacher to
develop meaningful relationships with their students which contributes to the feeling
of safety and security in the classroom.
b. In addition, common learning areas and flexible workspaces can give students
access to what other classes are currently learning. Teaching and learning are not

OBSERVE
What probable problem may result from the two situations of the learning
environment?
In Learning Environment 1, students could possibly get tired to go to school or
have quarrel with their classmates especially if they are naughty and too noisy
in the classroom. While in Learning Environment 2, they might get injured and
might have accident especially in the places like under the trees and parks
because they don't safe place to gather for learning.

REFLECT
What solutions can I think of to solve the problems?

In Learning Environment 1, I could manage the classroom setting or rules so

that we could avoid quarrel and misunderstanding in the class in that way we
can ensure their safety learning environment while on the Learning
Environment 2, we could plan to have a safe place which we can teach on
their home or with different places but have to ensure their welfare.

PLAN
How should I do it?
My plan for the Learning Environment 1 was to improve the classroom setting
and rules so that we could implement safety environment for learning. In that
way students could be able to learn well. While my intervention to the
Learning Environment 2 is to create a plan which we could borrow a place
that is suitable for the learners to learn also we could get partnership with the
barangay so that we could be able to maximize the space and will use their
place to associate learning and that we help students to see the real potential
from them.

“My Conducive Learning Environment”

By: _________________________________________
It is an important aspect of a teacher's responsibility to provide a safe
and supportive learning environment through various means to create a
conducive learning environment. When students first enter the classroom, it is
critical to establish ground rules. It is essential that learners create these
rules in order to gain ownership of the rules. It is critical to promote and value
diversity because everyone deserves to be treated fairly.
In Education, there are choices that must be made in order for the
student to be successful. One important tool necessary for the students to
succeed is a conducive learning environment. This environment begins in the
students’ mind at a very young age and are developed through parent,
teachers, staff and others connected to the school and environment. A
