CAMBRIA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE

PRESS RELEASE

Cambria County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer issues the following statement:

Early this morning an arrest was made relative to the threats at Westmont Hilltop School District. A
juvenile was taken into custody and faces multiple felony charges. Given the age of the individual, the
Commonwealth is unable to seek charges in adult court. At this time, law enforcement believes this individual
was acting alone and the threat has been abated. As this is a juvenile matter, we are unable to provide further
details due to privacy rules within the juvenile system.

This past week has been difficult for students, parents, administrators and law enforcement officers
alike. Everyone shares the collective goal of providing a safe and comfortable environment for our youth to
receive a quality education. Many law enforcement entities contributed to this investigation and apprehension,
including West Hills Regional Police Department, Upper Yoder Twp. Police Department, Cambria County
Detective Bureau, Cambria County District Attorney’s Office, Cambria County Sheriff’s Office, Pennsylvania
State Police, FBI, FBI Safe Streets Task Force, Department of Homeland Security, Johnstown Police
Department, and Richland Twp. Police Department.

Westmont Hilltop School District was ready to respond appropriately to this matter. The District
cooperated fully with law enforcement and sought input from law enforcement. The community came together
to provide tips and assist law enforcement. Our neighborhoods are stronger and safer when we all work
together. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant, and if you see something, say something.
