POLICY
Communications and Computer Equipment should primarily be
Policy Summary: used for business purposes but small amounts of usage for
personal reasons are permissible during personal times, such as
a lunch break, as long as such usage is not excessive, costly and
prohibited. All data and messages in the company’s computers
and communication equipment belong to the company.
It is easy to use communications and computer equipment
Reason for Policy: provided by the company for personal use, to the detriment of the
company, either in lost productivity or costs of usage. A policy to
outline what is permissible and what is not is required.

 Communications and computer equipment are provided by


Policy Detail: the company for business use and should be predominantly
used for this purpose only.
 Any use of communication or computer equipment for
personal work should be during break times, e.g. lunch
break. Any emergency use of these facilities during working
hours should be brief and wherever possible, with the
acknowledgement and consent of the line manager.
 Overseas calls for personal reasons and visiting prohibited
sites are strictly prohibited. Violations can lead to disciplinary
proceedings.
 The company owns any communication sent via email or that
is stored on company equipment. Management and other
authorized employees have the right to access any material
in an employee’s emails or computer at any time. Employees
may not consider their electronic communication, storage or
access to be private if it is created or stored at work.
