NTDC Junior Engineer (ELECT) Query.

The document summarizes corrections needed in the keys for a Junior Engineer (Electrical) Test conducted by NTDCL on December 31st, 2022. It provides explanations and references for 4 questions - numbers 23, 40, 81, and 53 - where the answers marked by NTS were incorrect. The correct answers and supporting references from textbooks and websites are given. For question 53, multiple references show different correct answers, so a request is made to award all candidates a grace mark.

SUBJECT: Correction i n keys of Junior Engineer (Electrical) Test of

NTDCL.

TEST Date: 31 December, 2022

IMPORTANT: This file is prepared after deeply analysis of different

textbooks and other sources. This query is prepared according to the white
paper booklet. All the below mistakes are observed in all colors of booklets
including yellow, pink, and green. So, its humble request to update all the
keys by correcting answers to the following questions.

(White Paper Booklet) Question Number 23:

This operation is not performed on independent variables

A) Time shifting
B) Amplitude Scaling (Correct answer, References are attached below)
C) Time Reversal
D) Amplitude Shifting (Answer marked by NTS which is incorrect)

Explanation:

Amplitude scaling is the one which cannot be performed on independent variables. It can only
perform on dependent variable.
Moreover, NTS marked “Amplitude Scaling” in the test of NTDC which was conducted on
“AUG 22, 2021”.
So, its humble request to correct/change the keys of respective question. NTS marked option
“D”(Amplitude Shifting) but correct answer is option “B” ( Amplitude Scaling)

(White Paper Booklet) Question Number 40:
The purpose of using shunt reactor in high voltage transmission system is to
A) Reduce the short circuit current through the line
B) Reduce the open circuit current across the line (Correct answer, References are attached
below)
C) Reduce the power factor (Answer marked by NTS which is incorrect)
D) Compensate for the voltage drop in the line

Explanation:

Shunt reactor is used to reduce the Ferranti Effect. In this effect, voltage increased due to line
current (capacitive effect) for Low/No load (open circuit). Shunt reactors reduce this effect by
absorbing line current which was generated by the line capacitance
NTS marked option “C” while correct option is “B”

(White Paper Booklet) Question Number 81:
Linear Differential Transformer is an:
A) Electrical Device
B) Electromechanical Device (Correct answer reference is given below)
C) Electromagnetic Device
D) Electrostatic Device (Answer marked by NTS which is incorrect)
Explanation:
Linear differential transformer (LDT)/ Linear Variable differential Transformer (LVDT) is a
common type of electromechanical transducer that can convert the rectilinear motion of an
object to which it is coupled mechanically into a corresponding electrical signal

NTS marked option “D” (Electrostatic Device) while correct option is “B” (Electromechanical
Device)

The Solar cell is a PN-Junction operating in:

A) Reverse Bias (Answer marked by NTS)

B) Forward Bias
C) Unbiased
D) Semi-biased

Explanation:

For this question, different books and websites have considered different answers as
given below in different screenshots. So is humble request to you, kindly award one

grace mark to every candidate.
