Activity Type Introduction


Reading, listening and In this fun personality adjectives game, students define and guess
speaking activity, group adjectives related to personality.

Procedure
Language Focus Divide the students into groups of three.
Adjectives of personality
Give each group a set of cards.

Ask the students to shuffle the cards and place them face down
Aim
in a pile on the desk.
To describe and guess
personality adjectives. Students then take it in turns to pick up a card from the pile.

The student with the card describes the personality adjective in


Preparation bold to the other students, without saying the adjective or using
the underlined words on the card.
Make one copy of the
cards for each group
The student is also not allowed to say variations of the disallowed
of three and cut as
words on the card, e.g. charm, charmed, etc.

The first student to successfully guess the personality adjective
Level being described wins and keeps the card.

Intermediate (A2-B1) Students continue taking it in turns to describe an adjective of


personality until all the cards have been used.

Time The student with the most cards at the end of the game wins.

It's the opposite of graceful. It's the opposite of impatient.

bossy cheerful
A person who always tells people what to do. A person who is always happy and optimistic.
It's the opposite of modest. It's the opposite of miserable.

generous stubborn
A person who likes giving things to others. A person who refuses to change their mind.
It's the opposite of selfish or stingy. It's the opposite of flexible.

polite easy-going
A person who has good manners. A person who is relaxed and calm.
It's the opposite of impolite or rude. It's the opposite of uptight or intolerant.

honest hardworking
A person who always tells the truth. A person who puts effort and care into their
work.

It's the opposite of lazy.

sociable creative
