Under the supervision of Department of Physical Education, the students participate in different competitions at various
levels in both indoor and outdoor games like cricket, table tennis, badminton, basketball, volley ball and athletics. A

excellent infrastructure consisting of two big reading halls lined with thousands of books, it provides a conducive environment for learning. It provides
the students with quality resources concerning academia and research. It also motivates the students for creativity, intellectual interest, and infuses in
them a lifelong spirit of learning and research.

The Library of GSCWU treasures print material comprising 35,300
books covering all major subjects like IT, computer science, Pure
Sciences, Natural Sciences, Humanities, Social Science and
Reference Books. GSCWU Library has Encyclopedia Britannica,
Information Technology Encyclopedia, Atlas, Dictionaries and rare
reference material.

Newspapers
The library has subscribed 05 Urdu and 03 English leading national
newspapers. The library also maintains 01 (one) year previous record
of the newspapers for reference and research purposes.

GSCWU is fortunate to have an old history as a boarding institution. It has two hostel buildings namely Fatima Hostel and Maryam Hostel. The new building of
Fatima Hostel is a masterpiece of architecture and can accommodate over 400 students. It has been enriched with facilities like cubicles for research students, TV
and Internet facility, backup power supply system, ltered water electric coolers and tuck shop.

Maryam Hostel with a capacity for more than 100 students is furnished with large dining hall, spacious common room and all the other living facilities has been
severing the boarding students for the last 20 years. Both the hostels ensure a safe and healthy environment to live and learn.
BAIT-UR-REHMAN (ISLAMIC LEARNING CENTER)
The GSCWU houses a superb building Bait-ur-Rehman to cater to spiritual enlightenment of the
students. All kinds of religious congregations i.e. Seerat Conferences, Declamation Contests,
Husn-e-Qirat and Naat competitions are held in the beautiful hall of Bait-ur-Rehman. Lectures on compulsory
Islamic studies are also organized here. Besides, classes of additional courses of Taajweed, Fiqah,
Hadith and translation of the Holy Quran are also conducted in this center. The main objective is to promote quest
for Islamic learning and research in various elds of life to identify and resolve contemporary problems and
revive true Islamic values.

The university transport section provides highly economical and safe transportation to the students. It has 11
vehicles in its eet comprising buses, cars and vans. The university is going to purchase an ambulance in the
current year.

The transport section operates scheduled routes which connect the university campus with opposing sides of the
city. The bus service is available on the designated bus stops and during the university hours.

HABIB BANK LIMITED (HBL) PAKISTAN)


A bank branch by HBL Pakistan with two ATM machines is located in the campus
premises where the day scholars, boarders and the faculty get on the spot benet
of monetary transaction.

CAFETERIA
The campus has a cafeteria that provides hygienic food at meal times besides
all-time snacks, cold drinks and other eatables. A committee of GSCWU keeps a
check on the hygiene, quality and rates of the eatables.

The Directorate of Students’ Affairs looks after the issues and needs of students. It
provides the students with multiple services and facilities regarding their education and
career, right from the time of admission till the completion of their degrees. It
administers academic counseling besides providing them guidance about when and
where to apply for several kinds of nancial support available for them. The most
important function of the ofce is to promote co- curricular activities by introducing the
students with forums for cultivation of literary and artistic talents, thereby making the
opportunity at university a rich, productive and multi-dimensional experience.
THE PROCTORIAL
BOARD
To maintain discipline in the University, there is a Proctorial Board comprising
of Chief Proctor, Secretary Procotrial Board, and staff members from different
departments nominated as departmental proctor. The nominated staff member
is authorized to check any student in the university premises any time. Violation
of rules by the students are reported to the Chief Proctor who takes necessary
action.
The departmental Proctor ensures that students:
Wear proper uniform and carry student card.

Do not disrupt University’s peaceful atmosphere and academic


activities.

STUDENT PROCTORS
One student from each semester of all the departments is selected. They are
assigned the duty to help the Proctorial Board in maintaining the discipline on
the University campus. They are responsible to check the uniform/student
card, ensure regular attendance and also report to the concerned
departmental Proctor.

DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY
The Department of Botany was established in 2013. More than 600 students are enrolled every year in new academic session and the number is
increasing every year. The Department promises quality education and the students are given an opportunity to acquire knowledge of research
which comprises of two semesters lab work and thesis submission. Faculty members in the Department of Botany share an interest in the study of
plants as organisms, ranging from algae to higher plants. Their teaching and research activities focus primarily on Medicinal activities of Desert
plants, Plant tissue culture and Genetics, studies on various research areas of Mycorrhiza, Stress physiology, phytochemical screening and study
of Plant diversity. The faculty has published more than 40 publications in national and international journals and participated in various national and
international conferences. The Department has completed and secured many HEC research and strengthening projects, many research projects
are in progression. Teaching and research in the Department are amply supported by its infrastructure with modern lecture rooms, fairly well

The importance of Urdu language is obvious for it is our national language. It is our most valuable historical, cultural and literary asset. Efforts
should be made to promote the development of the national language. National and collective consciousness should be promoted for it. MA, BS
and M.S programs are running in the department of Urdu. The associate degree program will also begin this year. The department has twelve
assistant professors and two lecturers. Since 2013, 23 MS degrees have been awarded and 21 MS Urdu students are occupied in research
