Secret Ingredient
by Mark Anthony F. Guira
Mark’s relatives from U.S.A went for a vacation here in Agoo, La Union.
They contacted his mother and told his mother that they would like to visit their
house. They also requested her to cook dinengdeng which is a famous dish in Agoo,
La Union.
His mother went to Agoo Hyper Market to buy the ingredients needed for the
dinendeng.

Real Raffle
by Mark Anthony F. Guira
At Cubal Integrated School, San Pedro, Agoo, La Union, teacher Anton wish
to have a game called the “real raffle” in his advisory class, Grade 7-Dancelions. He
wants to assess the learners on their knowledge on the different subsets of real
numbers. He said that the winner will win the school supplies.
Given below are the raffle balls place inside a plastic vase and beside is a
table showing the raffle balls and their corresponding counts.
As a student of Grade 7 – Dandelions, you are instructed to draw all the balls
and place them to their respective containers.
Suppose the diagram below are the containers, where should you place all
the balls to win the game?

Digital Salesman
by Monina I. Dumalagan
Darren is a salesman in a
supermarket, and he is in charge in meat
and vegetable section. He uses digital
weighing scale and label the tag with
printed weights. However, their
management told them to convert all the
weights in tags into fraction form for the
convenience of some buyers as they were
more familiar in the fractional form of the
weights. The table shows how Darren
change the weights in fractions. Put a check
() in the remarks if it is correctly
converted into fraction. If not, write the
correct fraction form.

Garbage Segregation
by Gema D. Jarata
Her grandmother invited her to take breakfast. After they ate, she
volunteered to wash the dishes. She put the waste materials on a plate to throw
later after washing dishes. When she was looking for the garbage bin, she
noticed the old papers and empty bottles around the back yard of the house. She
had also seen two kinds of garbage bins – one for “Nabubulok” and another one
for “Di- nabubulok.” She needs to throw all the thrash in the garbage bins,
segregating the kinds of wastes. Let’s help Maxine segregate the waste materials
and be thrown in the proper thrust bins.
1. What are the waste materials in the story?
2. What are the waste materials to be placed in “Nabubulok” bin? What about in
“Di-nabubulok” bin?

the provinces during fiesta and “Siesta.” In modern-day, Philippine bingo is usually
used for charity purposes and as a fundraising tool by religious organizations and
other groups. Bingo game is overseen and licensed by the Philippine Amusement and
Gaming Corporation.
Now, using the rational numbers BINGO card, let’s play it with fun!

during the first day of classes in Luna National High School.
Marc Vincent, a grade 7 Math teacher, conducted a survey in one of his
classes whether they like Math, Science, or English.
Out of 40 students, 22 liked Math, 15 liked Science, 18 liked English, 8 liked
both Math and Science, 7 liked both Science and English, 9 liked both English and
Math and 5 liked all three.
Teacher Marc presented the data collected using Venn diagram as shown
below.
1. Which of the following Venn diagrams represents the number of learners who
liked math only?
A. B.
C. D.
2. Which is a representation of the number of learners who liked both Math and
Science but not English?

Ali is a Grade 7-STE learner in a public school. His school is near a very well-
known fast-food chain, a 300-meter or 5-minute walking distance. Chicken and fries
are his favorite. During recess time, he is thinking of his lunch and calculating his
money if it will be enough. Ali has 100 pesos. If chicken and fries cost Php85 and his
tricycle fare will cost him Php30 back and forth, will Ali’s money be enough or not?
1. If Ali will buy chicken and fries that cost Php85, how much will be left from
his money?
2. If Ali will ride a tricycle back and forth to buy his lunch that cost Php85, how
much will be his deficit?
3. If Ali will ride a tricycle in going to buy his lunch and walk in coming back, is
his money enough? Why?
4. If Ali decided to walk, how many minutes will it take him back and forth?
5. What is the average speed in meter per minute from the school to the well-

For similar signs, just multiply or divide and keep the positive sign
For different signs, multiply or divide and keep the negative sign
Now you know how to add, subtract, multiply and divide integers
It’s now time for you to put altogether the common rule on integers.

In everyday life, we come across with situations that involve real numbers. There
are times when we don't realize it, we are already using its application. As such, here
are some of the examples of problems involving real numbers.
1. Vincent bought an agricultural land in Pila, Luna, La Union for 1.5 million
pesos and after selling it he made a profit of 2 million pesos. How much did
he sell it for?
2. 2358 people went to watch Maid in Malacañang in Robinsons San
Fernando City. There were 496 more children than adults. If there were 185
more girls than boys, how many girls went to watch the movie?
3. The temperature in Baguio was −8℃. It has increased by 10℃ by mid-day.
What was the mid-day temperature?
4. Marc volunteers to make ‘pandesal’ for his math class. Each batch of ‘pandesal’
requires 2 2/3 cups of flour. If he has 32 cups of flour, how many batches of
‘pandesal’ can he make?
