Description
A. The B737-300 contains three lavatory assemblies. The forward and mid-
modular lavatory assemblies as well as the closet assembly, are covered
herein.
(1) The sink cabinet is comprised of a sink top and cabinet assembly
consisting of a faucet and drain installation, bar soap dispenser,
wash basin, face panels, access doors, ashtray, a waste disposal
bin, and plumbing and electrical installations that provide faucet,
drain and toilet flush operations.
(2) The dispenser and disposal facilities consist of two units: a dis-
penser cabinet above, and a disposal enclosure below. The dispenser
cabinet is comprised of a shell assembly to which is attached to the
main access door. The shell assembly contains a dispenser car-
tridge which, when filled and installed in the shell assembly,
dispenses paper and linen towels, facial tissues, paper cups and
airsick bags.
(5) The toilet shroud consists of a shroud assembly (or frame) and a
toilet seat assembly.
Description - Page 1
(c) Speaker LS1 is a 3.2-ohm, 400-cycle unit that uses 115 vac
aircraft intercom system power.
(d) The toilet timer uses 115 vac, 3-phase power. The timer per-
mits power to the toilet flushing motor for approximately 10
seconds.

D. The sanitary napkin dispenser, airsick bag and sanitary napkin disposal
can are installed behind spring-loaded, bottom-hinged access doors.
CAUTION: DO NOT PROP OPEN BOTTOM-HINGED ACCESS DOOR AND USE AS FOOTHOLD
OR STEP LADDER.
E. The hot and cold water faucets are spring-loaded to prevent continuous
flow of water into sink basin. Hot water is achieved by pressing water
tap, permitting water from water inlet line to flow through an in-line
water heater. The water heater has a capability of approximately one
quart (0.95 liter), with capability of heating newly received cold water
in a matter of seconds.
(3) A warning light (RETURN TO CABIN) uses 28vac power. The disposal
cabinet includes an ATTENDANT CALL switch which uses 28vdc power.
When pressed, the call switch causes a chime alarm to sound in the
flight attendant's station and a light to illuminate. The light is
held in illuminated mode by a holding relay. The light is a press-
to-reset type which, when pressed, removes power from relay.
Description - Page 6
(6) The hot water heater uses 115vac power. The heater is thermo-
statically controlled with capability of sensing contents
when it is below pre-established temperature. When contents
of tank are below pre-established temperature, heater ele-
ments are activated to increase water temperature to
desired level.

3. Bonded Items
NOTE: Two bonding adhesive agents are shown in Table 601. Either
adhesive may be used depending upon desired handling time.
(2) To install a new floor mat, thoroughly blend base compound with
activator in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
(3) Mark off area on floor pan which will be covered by adhesive.
Apply a thin, uniform coat of blended adhesive (Table 601) to new
floor mat and floor pan.
Table 601
Bonding Agents
(a) Carefully pry damaged bumper from doorstop with a sharp, flat
tool (stiff-blade putty knife, screwdriver, etc.) exercising
care not to damage underlying surface. Complete removal of
old adhesive residue is difficult. However, tightly-adhering
old adhesive residue will not affect application of new adhes-
ive when new part is installed.
(c) Wipe area with clean cloth lightly dampened with alcohol or
MEK.
(2) If placard has adhesive other than Bostic 10-551-3 (Table 606)
applied to back surface, prepare placard as follows:
(5) Wipe panel surface free of dirt, grit and adhesive residue with a
clean, lint-free cloth dampened with Freon TF or detergent cleaner
(Table 606). Install a new placard, chart or nameplate as follows:
(a) Mark off area on receiving surface 1/16 in. (0.16 cm) smaller
than area of placard which will be covered by adhesive.
(d) Remove release paper from back of placard and apply to primed
substrate.
(e) Use cheesecloth and thoroughly rub down placard using firm
hand pressure.
D. Lamp Fixtures, Call Panel Trim and House Panel Trims, etc.
(1) Carefully pry damaged part from panel frame with a sharp, flat
tool. After damaged part has separated from frame, clean remaining
adhesive residue from frames with flat tool. Clean frame with
clean, lint free cloth dampened with Methyl Alcohol (Table 606).
(2) To cement new lamp fixture lens, call panel window or call panel
trim, thoroughly blend a mixture of 100 parts-by-weight of part A
(2) To cement new gaskets and seals, prime with A4049 primer according
to manufacturer's instructions. Bond new part to toilet shroud
with A4000 adhesive according to manufacturer's instructions.
F. Mirrors
Repair mirror strip, mirror backing and panel assembly trim strips as
follows:
CAUTION: THE MIRROR STRIP AND PANEL ASSEMBLY TRIM STRIPS ARE
BONDED TO DECORATIVE PANELING. EXERCISE EXTREME CARE
WITH BREAKING BOND OR DAMAGE TO DECORATIVE FINISHES MAY
RESULT.
NOTE: The adhesive bond may separate with adhesive residue remain-
ing on both mating surfaces. Carefully scrape as much of
residue as possible from both surfaces. Residue that
remains on surfaces will not affect application of new adhe-
sive when units (or new parts) are re-assembled.
(2) To bond new mirror strip, mirror backing and panel assembly trim
strips apply 30-121 adhesive (Table 606) according to manufac-
turer's instructions.
(1) Carefully cut just through face sheet in a regular patterns (such
as rectangle or circle) around damaged area, and remove circum-
scribed section by peeling.
(4) Place a new facing, decorative side down, on previously cleaned and
"released" tooling plate. It is sometimes advisable to apply Ram
225 release agent (Table 606) to decorative surface for a few
inches in from each edge to facilitate clean-up in event of resin
seepage under lay-up.
(5) On a separate work area, thoroughly wet out fiberglass with follow-
ing mixture. To each 100 parts-by-weight of resin (Furane HT1835,
Table 606), 10 parts-by-weight of hardener (Furane 9816, Table 606)
shall be added and well mixed in. Apply mixture to fiberglass
using rollers, squeegees, or other means to assure saturation with-
out presence of excess resin to drip or run off during lay-up.
Locate patch over exposed core. Panel facing around cut-out shall
have been previously masked-off or "released' according to para-
graph (4) above to facilitate clean-up. Fiberglass fabric, as used
(6) Place facing patch accurately and tape in place, if necessary using
masking tape or similar material, until pressure can be applied.
Apply and maintain contact pressure by vacuum bagging, by using
weights, or by other suitable means.
(7) Vacuum bag assembly using normal techniques and cure at room tem-
0
perature, under vacuum, for 24 hours or at 500+00 F (660 +5 C) for 2
hours. As an alternative to vacuum bagging, contact pressure may
-be maintained for the same length of time using weight applied
through a tooling plate.
(9) If seams where patch has been applied display gaps that are not
effectively sealed with adhesive used for application of patch,
sealing shall be accomplished per REPAIR, paragraph 4.D.
B. Honeycomb Panels
(2) Remove outlined core by pulling free from facing bond line. Remove
all shreds of core of significant size, and where practicable, sand
lightly to diminish height of cured adhesive fillets.
(4) Apply resin mixture described in REPAIR, paragraph 4.A (5) to honey-
comb surface that will contact opposite facing and to fraying edges
that butt up against unremoved core.
(7) Fill cells in damaged areas with Epocast 8219 or 8623 A and B fill-
ing compound (Table 606), mixed in the weight ratios, A/B = 100/20
for 8219 compound or A/B 100/25 for 8623 compound. Fill slightly
above cell level.
0 0
(8) Cure for 24 hours at 800 +100 F (270 +50 C) or for 5 hours at 110 +10 F
(430+50C).
(3) Inject resin mix described in REPAIR, paragraph 4.A(5) into holes.
(4) For separations between face sheet plies, hold syringe at an angle
to insure that resin is injected between the plies. Small holes at
perimeter of debonded area may serve as an indication when resin
has filled void area.
(6) For delaminations between facing and core, the repaired panel shall
be cured while in a horizontal position with delaminated face
lower-most, against tooling plate.
(7) Remove masking tape and, if any of the holes are not filled and
effectively sealed with repair resin, completely seal the repair in
accordance with paragraph D below.
(1) For very narrow gaps where medium-viscosity mixture of resin will
not flow into panel in appreciable quantities, this material should
be applied, excess squeegeed away, and cured per REPAIR, paragraph
4.A.6. Pressure is not required for this cure and room tempera-
ture cycle will be preferable in some cases because resin, when thinned
at elevated temperatures, has a greater tendency to seep through
gap.
(2) For larger gaps, Epocast 8219 A and B filling compound (Table 606)
shall be mixed per REPAIR, paragraph 4.B (8) and applied in a
manner similar to paragraph (1) above. Cure as described in
REPAIR, paragraph 4.B (9).
E. Damaged Inserts
NOTE: Mix only that amount of potting compound that can be used in 30
minutes.
(1) Drill out damaged insert and a sufficient amount of old potting
material to provide a cavity large enough to accept new potting
material.
CAUTION: DO NOT PLACE ANY LOAD ON TABS FOR AT LEAST 24 HOURS AFTER
CURING.
5. Painting
(1) Remove soil from damaged area with clean, lint-free cloth dampened
in Trichlorethylene (Table 606).
(2) Lightly sand damaged area with abrasive cloth or paper having a
grit of 320 or finer (Table 606).
Epoxy Primer
Epoxy Enamel
(4) Brush application of coating may be made with a good quality bris-
tle brush. When application is employed, apply material in one
direction as much as practicable, using light pressure on brush
to form an even continuous film. Avoid repeated brushing out of wet
coatings to preclude pickup, air bubbles and voids.
(5) Using spray equipment that is clean and free of other materials,
apply paint by cross-coating from a distance of approximately 8-10
inches (20-25 cm).
NOTE: Steps (1) through (4) show general preparation of paint mater-
ials, equipment adjustments and application procedures for paint
repair of fiberglass reinforced plastic resin, polycarbonate
resin and decorative metal parts.

1. Introduction
This section contains a Numerical Index that lists all parts that make up
the lavatory assemblies and a Detailed Parts List that consists of illustr-
ations and a breakdown of component part numbers and names.
2. Scope of Information
(1) WHEN PART NUMBER IS KNOWN: Turn to Numerical Index and locate part
number. Figure and item number on illustration where part appears
are listed in column to right of part number. Turn to illustration
and locate item number. The corresponding item number in accom-
panying parts list will give part number, description, assembly
relationship and quantity required for the particular application.
(2) WHEN PART NUMBER IS NOT KNOWN: Look through illustrations and find
assembly of which component is a part, or look through illustra-
tions and identify part by appearance. Note item number in exploded
-view and check corresponding item number is accompanying parts
list to find part number, description and quantity required for the
application.
D 3. Numerical Index
The purpose of the Numerical Index is to enable the user to locate any part
by part number. The figure and item number the part is used in are listed
as well as the total quantity required in that particular figure. Parts are
listed in alpha-numerical order (Letters followed by numbers).
The arrangement sequence of each numbered part begins at the extreme left-
hand position and continues left to right (one position at a time) until
the location of each part number is determined. Letters "A" through "Z" are
followed by numerals "O" through "9". In the second column in all succeed-
ing positions, the order of precedence is: first, a blank space (blank
column) or a dash "-"; if present, the letters "A" through "Z" then
numerals "O" through "9". The letter "O" is treated as the number "O".
A. Arrangement of Items
(1) The numerical listed under "FIG." at the top of each page of listed
parts is the figure number of the illustration in which the listed
parts can be found. The numerals in the "ITEM" column correspond to
the part in the illustration.
(2) A hyphen (-) in front of the item number means that the part is NOT
illustrated.
D. "NOMENCLATURE" Column
(1) Part names are given in this column. Note the numbers 1 through 7
at the top left-hand side of the column. This indicates that
indentations are used to show the relationship of one part to
another and answers the question, "Is it part of the main assembly,
or part of a subassembly?" An item with greater indentation will
always be a part of a preceding item with one less indent. This
system provides rapid determination of the parts comprising an
assembly, or the next higher assembly for any particular part. In
scanning for item relationship, remember that attaching parts fol-
low the part attached and therefore may precede the breakdown of an
assembly.
(2) When variations exist within the same assemblies caused by differ-
ences in effectivity, the differences are indicated by an effect-
ivity code serialization in the EFF CODE column of the parts list.
When the effectivity column is left blank, parts are common to all
assemblies. The first two digits of the effectivity code indicate
first applicability and the last two digits indicate last applica-
bility of an unbroken sequence. A dash is not shown between numbers
When an item is applicable to all units, the EFF CODE column is
left blank. A letter may appear in the EFF CODE column proceeding
the four digit code. This indicates the first indenture item as
described in paragraph (1) in this section. An example of the use
of the EFF CODE column is:

FIGURE PART PART NOMENCLATURE EFF PER
ITEM NUMBER NUMBER 1234567 CODE ASSY.
AIRLINE UNITS
FIGURE PART PART NOMENCLATURE EFF PER
ITEM NUMBER NUMBER 1234567 CODE ASSY.
This column shows the quantity of any given part used in the immediately
associated assembly. For example, if four screws are required to secure
a cover plate, the number 4 will appear in the "UNITS PER ASSY" column
beside the description of the screw. Parts whose quantities vary as
required are designated "AR" (as required). The abbreviation "RF"
(reference) means the listing of the part or assembly refers to the end
item or is being repeated for clarity, and the reader is referred to its
previous listing. The abbreviation "NP" (non-procurable) means the part
may be purchased only as part of the next higher assembly, or that the
part has been superseded and is no longer supported.
The illustrations for the Detailed Parts List are a series of exploded
views arranged in sequence of disassembly and showing each assembly and
each part except that attaching parts are illustrated to the extent
required to ensure proper assembly. Where it is not practical to com-
pletely explode on the original exploded view, reference is made to
another figure for complete illustration and listing. To facilitate
finding the other figure, a cross reference such as (SEE IPL FIG. 2 FOR
DETAILS) will be found in the "NOMENCLATURE" column.
