Pattern for DROPS 205-11

----------------------------------------------------------

EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:

----------------------------------------------------------

CHAIN STITCH TIP:

It is important not to work the chain stitches at the beginning of piece to tightly, use a larger crochet hook
if the edge is too tight.

BAND TIP:
It is important that diagrams A.15, A.16, A.22 and A.23 are not worked too tight (= band stitches). It is
especially important when decreasing for V-neck.

PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 and A.23. Not all diagrams are used in all sizes.

BOBBLE - WORK 5 DOUBLE TREBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER:

Work 1 double treble crochet but wait with last pull through= 2 loops on hook. Work 4 double treble
crochets the same way = 6 loops on hook. Make 1 yarn over on hook and pull through all loops on hook.
Tighten well before continuing.

DECREASE TIP:
Decrease 1 double crochet by working 2 double crochets together as follows: Work 1 double crochet but
wait with last yarn over and pull through, work 1 double crochet more the same way. Make 1 yarn over and
pull through all loops on hook(= 1 double crochet decreased).

----------------------------------------------------------

START THE PIECE HERE:

----------------------------------------------------------

JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:

Worked back and forth in several pieces and sewn together when finished.

BACK PIECE:
Work 70-76-82-88-96-104 loose chain stitches with hook size 5 mm = US H/8 and Air – if the chain
stitches are not loose enough the piece will contract at the edge – read CHAIN STITCH TIP in explanation
above. Work diagrams A.1-A.4 as follows from right side:
Work A.1 over 1-1-1-1-1-1 stitch, work A.2 over 0-2-0-2-2-2 stitches, work A.3 until 1 stitch remains (=
17-18-20-21-23-25 times) and work A.4 over 1 stitch.
Work diagrams 1 time vertically.

Continue to work according diagrams A.5-A.10 as follows from right side:

Continue to work until piece measures 38-39-40-41-42-43 cm = 15”-15 1/4”-15 3/4”-16 1/8”-16 1/2”-17”
in total.

READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SECTION BEFORE CONTINUING!

Do not work over the outermost 2-2-3-3-3-3 stitches in each side – sew in sleeves here later. Cut the yarn
and begin next row by working in the 3rd-3rd-4th-4th-4th-4th stitch in from the side and stop when 2-2-3-
3-3-3 stitches remain on row = 66-72-76-82-90-98 stitches.

worked, replace 1 bobble with 1 double crochet. Continue to work until piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62
cm = 20 1/2"-21 1/4"-22"-22 3/4"-23 5/8"-24 3/8".
The middle 12-12-14-14-16-16 double crochets are no longer worked (= neck) = 27-30-31-34-37-41
double crochets on each shoulder. Work 1 double crochet in each double crochet AT THE SAME TIME on first
row from right side decrease 1 double crochet towards the neck, read DECREASE TIP. Repeat decrease on
next row from right side = 25-28-29-32-35-39 double crochets. Work until piece measures 56-58-60-62-
64-66 cm = 22"-22 3/4"-23 5/8"-24 3/8"-25 1/4"-26" in total. Work the other shoulder the same way.
LEFT FRONT PIECE (when garment is worn):
Work 40-43-46-49-53-57 loose chain stitches with hook size 5 mm = US H/8 and Air – if the chain stitches
are not loose enough the piece will contract at the edge – read CHAIN STITCH TIP in explanation above.
Work according to diagrams A.11 to A.15 as follows from right side:

3/4”-16 1/8”-16 1/2”-17” in total. Then work armholes in the right side of front piece by no longer working
over the outermost 2-2-3-3-3-3 stitches in the side (opposite side of band). This is done on a row from
wrong side: End row when 2-2-3-3-3-3 stitches remain. This is done on a row from right side: Cut the
yarn, begin to work in the 3rd-3rd-4th-4th-4th-4th stitch from the side. NOTE: Continue bobble pattern
upwards as before but adjust not to work in the 3 outermost stitches towards the side (replace 1 bobble
with 1 double crochet).
AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 40-39-43-45-42-48 cm = 15 3/4”-15 1/4”-17”-17 3/4”-16

The shoulder is now done, work now over the 5 band stitches (= neck edge to be fastened to neck edge on
back piece). If last row was from right side, turn piece and work from wrong side. If last row was from
wrong side, cut the yarn and work from right side in the 5 band stitches. Work until piece measures
approx. 7-7-8-8-9-9 cm = 2 3/4”-2 3/4”-3 1/8”-3 1/8”-3 1/2”-3 1/2” from shoulder. Cut the yarn, but
leave approx. 20 cm = 8” - this is used for assembly later.

RIGHT FRONT PIECE (when garment is worn):

Work 40-43-46-49-53-57 loose chain stitches with hook size 5 mm = US H/8 and Air – if the chain stitches
are not loose enough the piece will contract at the edge – read CHAIN STITCH TIP in explanation above.

Continue according to diagrams until piece measures 38-39-40-41-42-43 cm = 15”-15 1/4”-15 3/4”-16
1/8”-16 1/2”-17” in total. Then work armholes in the left side of front piece by no longer working over the

1/4"-22"-22 3/4" bobble are no longer worked, replace 1 bobble with 1 double crochet. When all decreases
for V-neck and armholes are done there are 30-33-34-37-40-44 stitches on row.
Continue to work until piece measures 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm = 22"-22 3/4"-23 5/8"-24 3/8"-25 1/4"-26".
The shoulder is now done, work now over the 5 band stitches (= neck edge to be fastened to neck edge on
back piece). If last row was from wrong side, turn piece and work from right side. If last row was from
right side, cut the yarn and work from wrong side in the 5 band stitches. Work until piece measures
approx. 7-7-8-8-9-9 cm = 2 3/4”-2 3/4”-3 1/8”-3 1/8”-3 1/2”-3 1/2” from shoulder. Cut the yarn, but
leave approx. 20 cm = 8” - this is used for assembly later.

SLEEVES:
Work 52-54-56-58-62-66 loose chain stitches on hook size 5 mm = US H/8 and Air. Work 2-2-3-3-3-3 rows
with double crochets back and forth (sew body to sleeve here later). Then work double crochets back and
forth, but put every row together with 1 slip stitch in first double crochet worked on row and turn piece (so
that texture is the same the entire sleeve and to avoid sewing together at the end). Work until piece
measures 20-19-18-17-15-13 cm = 8”-7 1/2”-7”-6 3/4”-6”-5 1/8” in total (approx. 34 cm = 13 3/8”
remain until finished measurements for all sizes). Now increase 2 double crochets on the under side of
sleeve, increase by working 2 double crochets inside first and last double crochet on row (= 2 double
crochets increased). Repeat increase every 3rd row 8 times in total = 68-70-72-74-78-82 stitches.
Work until piece measures 48-47-46-45-43-41 cm = 19”-18 1/2”-18”-17 3/4”-17”-16 1/8” (NOTE! shorter
measurements in the larger sizes because of wider shoulders). On next row decrease by working 2 and 2
double crochets together entire row = 34-35-36-37-39-41 stitches. Work 1 more row and decrease 6-7-4-
5-3-5 stitches evenly = 28-28-32-32-36-36 stitches. Now work an edge at the bottom of sleeve as follows
from right side: Work 3 chain stitches (= replace 1st double crochet), work 1 double crochet around next
double crochet from front of piece, * work 1 double crochet around each of the 2 next double crochets
from back of piece, work 1 double crochet around each of the next 2 double crochet from front of piece *,
work from *-* the entire round. Continue to work like this until edge measures approx. 4 cm = 1 1/2”,
sleeve measures approx. 54-53-52-51-49-47 cm = 21 1/4”-21”-20 1/2”-20”-19 1/4”-18 1/2”. Cut and
fasten the yarn.
Work another sleeve the same way.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew shoulder seams edge to edge to avoid a chunky seam. Sew in sleeves – the section worked back and
forth at the top of sleeve is fastened to front/back piece where armholes were made. Sew side seams. Sew
end of the 5 band stitches from left front piece together with end of 5 band stitches on right side - make
sure that band does not twist = neck edge. Place edge of band stitches so that it is edge to edge with neck
on back piece, fasten band with small stitches. Fasten button on left band, button through stitches on right
band. Top button should be where V-neck begins and bottom button should be placed approx. 2 cm = 3/4”
from edge at the bottom. Then place the remaining 3-3-3-4-4-4 button evenly between these.

Diagram explanations
= Row begins with 3 chain stitches, these replace 1st double crochet in diagram. On next row work
last double crochet in the third of these chain stitches.
= doube crochet in stitch
= work 1 double crochet around next double crochet from the back of piece

= work 1 double crochet around next double crochet from the front of piece

= BOBBLE - WORK 5 DOUBLE TREBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER - see explanation in pattern
