Celebration at home:

Vaastu Puja is a religious and spiritual process to worship Vaastu Purush, the protector, soul
and Lord of the house. Purush means Soul, Power and Energy. The primary objectives of
Vaastu Puja are to seek blessings from Vastu Purush and to align the stars in your favor. The
puja normally takes place after renovation in the house or office of the person.

The family should consider and adhere to all the requirements and materials that are asked by
the priest. It is advised that everyone invited dresses in traditional Indian wear. However, it is
also advised to wear colors
except black or white. One should
also avoid wearing leather
accessories for the puja.

A toran, made of asopalav leaves

and marigold flowers, is placed
on the entrance door and a
beautiful rangoli is made using
flowers. Inside, a havan is made
with banana stem and other
havan samagri. The rest of the
place is also decorated with
colorful flowers.

One takes the Sankalp (oath) and

the priest recites the Pavamana mantra and Rakshoghna mantra, and a coconut is placed in
the havan. A fire is lit by ghee in the havan and the coconut is burnt. During Sankalp, the head
of the family offers grain, rice, flowers, and petals to the mother earth.During the Bhumi
Abhishinchan, a sprinkling of the Gangajal with the help of mango leaves takes place. The havan
is to be performed in a particular direction and the deity is worshiped. Once the puja is over then
a pit is dug and all the things that were used in the puja are placed in it and covered.

After the puja, prasadam is offered to the lord and then served to all the attendees. It is an
authentic sweet dish called halva or sheera. Some fruits like bananas and apples are also
served at some places.

All the family members are requested to attend the puja. Relatives, neighbours and close
friends are also invited. With all the blessings, a new life is started in the house or workspace.
Celebration in school:

Our school annually celebrates French day, which is on 14th July. It is usually a one day
celebration for about 4-5 hours at the start of the day across the school. Our teachers devise a
plan and assign roles for different batches of students across 2-3 grades. For example, this
year, grade 7 was given 1 city to
work on and grade 8 was given
2 cities and other aspects of
France. Grade 9 was given 3
cities and all together we
presented France in a nutshell.
A group of students contains
about 9-10 students and cover
various skills such as art.

A few famous delicacies,

usually desserts, are served to
the teachers which are
handmade by students at home.
In 2022, students served
macarons, croissants and
profiteroles. The decorations for any event, including this one are themed on the topic. The deco
for this year usually consisted of the tricolor which is blue, white and red. The students and
teachers were also asked to dress up to suit the mood.

All students and teachers attend this event. Students from grade 1 all the way to grade 12 are
invited here as well as all class and subject teachers. After everyone has visited, the presenters
are also allowed to visit other stalls.
Celebration in town :

One of Mumbai’s largest multicultural festivals, the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is a nine day
occasion that takes place in February every year. It's
known for its heritage buildings, and art and cultural
spaces such as museums, art galleries, boutiques,
restaurants and educational institutions. The art festival is
celebrated across 14 sections such as cinema, dance,
food, literature.

The association in general was formed with the idea of

giving back to the town we call home, giving life to the
biggest street art festival seen in India. It attracts not only
people from the city but from all over the country. The
occasion commences always on the first Saturday of
February and closing always takes place on the second
Sunday in february. Entry to all events is free making it a
huge success.

The whole area is filled with stalls selling eco-friendly,

hand made arts and craft wares. There are numerous food
stalls, artists selling their creations, some who sketch instant portraits to the liking of the
customers, quite a few street art installations etc. The success of the Kala Ghoda Arts festival
has encouraged quite a few other arts and cultural festivals at that time of the year, when the
weather in Mumbai is cool and the sun sets early. These include the Mumbai Festival, the
Celebrate Bandra festival etc.
General Question:

We respect and enjoy all celebrations around the world. Though, we have special
feelings towards Holi, Diwali & Christmas.

The greatest festival of India- Diwali, usually lasting 5 days symbolizing the triumph of good
over evil. This one is close to our hearts as it’s
the festival of lights and we all gather. We all
eagerly wait for this festivity & all of us love to
participate in this celebration anywhere: at
school or at home. The main happenings can be
seen in the dark sky - vivid fireworks. Our
school celebrates all festivities, regardless of
religion. At homes, everyone decorates their
doorstep with mandala using coloured sand,
illuminated with lamps or diyas. This is a time
where the entire family comes together.

Holi - the festival of colors lasting around 2

days is widely celebrated too. It signifies the
colors of life, sometimes blue, sometimes
yellow. Christmas is given equal importance too.
No matter what religion or caste, everyone
comes together and celebrates the joy of
sharing. This is a small way disguised as an
occasion to show gratitude for our loved ones, even ones that are like family.

Our school is decorated and themed according to multiple occasions, all done by students of
all grades. We celebrate all festivities like ours, but these were our most adored ones as of
course who doesn’t like: Festival of lights, colors, gifts & all together vacations!
