Lesson1:
1.What is a Teacher?
A person who teaches, especially in a school. This person makes children
knowledgeable and cultured. A teacher is a beautiful gift given by god because he/she
shares academic knowledge, ethical values and assimilates moral values that help us
shape our personality as better human beings. A teacher is such an important creature
in the life of a student, who through his knowledge, patience and love give a strong
shape to a student’s whole life. 

2.Explain Teaching as a Profession.


Teaching is a noble profession that comes with so much responsibility and duty towards
students, because teaching is the specialized application of knowledge, skills and
attributes designed to provide unique service to meet the educational needs of the
individual and of society.

3. Requirements of Teaching as a Profession.


The requirements of Teaching as a profession are the following
- Teachers need to have a four year bachelor’s degree
- Must have Experience teaching
- Holding a valid teaching certificate or license in their state.

– Elements of the Teaching Profession


The elements of Teaching profession are the following
•Initial Professional Education
•Accreditation
•Licensing
• Professional Development
• Professional Societies
• Code of Ethics
– By way of an Acrostic , explain the elements of a Profession.
P- Professionals generally begin their professional lives by completing a university
program in their chosen fields. This literally means the long and arduous years of
preparation.
R Regulatory body approve programs in university to ensure that graduates from
this programs are accredited and can be easily recognized so that they could start
their professional lives with the knowledge to perform effectively is assured by
Accreditation.
O One of the most important thing in teaching for it is mandatory and is
administered by a government authority in having a profession and is called
Licensing.
F From 4-year course this is one of the most awaited times for the teachers, to
become a licensed professional teacher.
F For professional development, teachers also need to undergo schooling for
additional education because it helps to assure a minimum competency throughout
their career. Every professionals must also involve in such organizations to
S See themselves as a part of the community and
S seeks to further a particular profession, the interests of individuals engaged in that
profession and the public interest, they are the Professional Societies.
I in the code of ethics, teachers must fulfill it because this was designed to protect
the rights of all the students.
O Obtainable this is what I could only say about these elements
N Not sufficient to guarantee adequate levels of professional service but yearn to
have these 6 elements to know that you are professional.
– Brief history of the professionalization of teaching.

The history of teaching can be traced to Confucius (561 B.C.),He was the first
famous private teacher. Then In the Middle Ages, learning institutions such as
Cambridge University were founded and teacher training became required and
that is why teacher became a profession.

– Is teaching a Vocation or a Mission? Why?


Teaching is a Vocation and at the same time a Mission because Teaching is a job and it
is a vocation, if you work and you teach you are getting paid. You teach because you
are required and at the same time you really wanted to serve or teach those who are
need to be educated you are very passionate in teaching then that is your mission.
