LESSON 1 MODULE 1

ACTIVITY 1
1. How is the delivery modality of this course different from the usual in-service
training I have received pre-pandemic. List at least three differences.
 As a school head, this course is quite different and challenging from the
usual in-service training that I’ve experienced before the pandemic crisis
due to the following reasons:
a) This course requires blended learning modality wherein I must be
knowledgeable and skillful with technological advancements to lead
my teachers, parents, and pupils to ensure quality learning.
Moreover, I need to develop a deep understanding of the modules
objectives and expected outputs to identify and adopt the best
learning modality for our school.
b) This course is challenging since we cannot afford a face-to-face
learning modality, where we can directly address our concerns, and
provide effective solutions to these problems. It requires resources
which are important in conducting virtual meetings for us to adapt to
the new normal of education.
c) This course utilizes a task-oriented, coupled with guided study using
self-learning modules, and co-learning and collaboration. I need to
be properly guided and goal-oriented to maximize the available
resources, including organizational capabilities, infrastructure,
financial, and human resources, health and safety status, and
context and capacities of parents and learners to support the
identified learning modality which is most suitable for the school.
Furthermore, I need to effectively plan out the best learning modality
for our school, identify the advantages and disadvantages of the
selected learning modality, identify the possible problems/issues that
may arise, and provide appropriate and effective solutions to these
problems.

2. Reflect on the objectives for conducting LAC sessions as listed in DO 35, s.

2016: • To improve the teaching-learning process to improve learning among
students
- LAC sessions are highly important since they provide learning opportunities
for us school heads to lead and guide our teachers in planning,
implementation, assessment, and provision of effective teaching
strategies/interventions to effectively address the learning needs of our
pupils.
- Furthermore, LAC session is a great avenue for brainstorming, deep
discussions, and collaboration among teachers to improve the teaching-
learning process in line with the K to 12 curriculum. It allows for the
professional growth of school head and respective teachers to meet the
expected curriculum standards.
- The identified teaching strategies/interventions can be utilized to address
the learner’s needs by applying the best practices obtained from the
conducted LAC sessions.
- Therefore, it is expected that the learners will have increasing academic
performance as properly guided and motivated by the teachers.
• To nurture successful teachers
- LAC sessions provide a learning opportunity for school heads and
teachers.
- It serves as a training avenue for teachers to identify their strengths and
weaknesses. It also provides a motivating and secure environment where
school head and teachers could maximize and develop his/her strengths,
and provide necessary interventions in addressing one’s weaknesses.
• To enable teachers to support each other to continuously improve their content

• To foster a professional collaborative spirit among School Heads, teachers, and

the community as a whole.
- LAC sessions promote a professional collaborative spirit through a strong
and effective leadership by the school head to ensure that quality basic
education is implemented.
- This goal can be achieved by collaboration and teamwork among the
school head, teachers, learners, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Each one contributes a significant role in promoting a quality basic
education for all learners.

3. What are the challenges to having a successful LAC? Write down the top three
challenges in your Study Notebook.
 Stable internet connectivity
- The teachers do not have a stable internet connectivity.
- This could be a great hindrance in attending virtual meetings/LAC
sessions.
 Conflict of schedules
- The teachers have different work arrangement status.
- If they are required to report physically in schools, they could not be
able to attend online LAC sessions/meetings.
 Limited resources
- There are limited resources such as financial, internet connectivity,
