III. Learning Experiencing

A. Pre-Reading

Mind Setting

The teacher will ask the students the following questions and will call one or two
students to share their experiences.

1. How many times have you experienced problems?

2. What do you usually do when you are facing problems?

Rationale:

The purpose of asking this is to motivate the students about the lesson to be discussed.

Unlocking Vocabularies

The teacher asks the students to get a paper and a pen and write the words that
the teacher dictates. After, the students will give the definition of each word according
to their own understanding. Then the teacher checks and compares their work to the
correct answers.
B. First Reading by the Teacher

After distributing the handouts to the students, the teacher instructs the students
to follow her lead in reading the poem.

C. Intellectual Discussion

1. Describe the persona. Is he/she happy, at peace, troubled? Cite lines to justify your
answer.

2. When do you say a person is faced with a “dilemma”?

3. When do we say “life sucks”? How do we feel when it does?

4. When do we call a person an “introvert”?

5. What image is evoked by the line “signals when I’m at the crossroads?” What does
this mean?

6. What could the “corner in my soul” be that the persona refers to? Cite lines from the
text to justify your answer.

7. IS there something in your life that you can call a corner in my soul? What is it?

D. Enrichment

The teacher asks the students to make a poem which responds to the original
selection. Then, the students will be grouped by pairs and share their poem to their
partners.

IV. Assignment

As an assignment, the students will write an appreciation letter to a person who

they run to when they have problems.
