The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable
future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty,
inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. The Goals
interconnect and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve each Goal and
target by 2030.
For this project, you are required to design an area located at the UPM Publisher’s building, UPM. The
planting design concept should take into consideration the role of the building, its context and the
potential users.

UPM Press is one of the entities under the Office of Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation,
Universiti Putra Malaysia. The main role of UPM Press is to publish books, journals and other scholarly
publications based on research, written by academicians from within and outside UPM. Beginning
February 1, 2020, UPM Press was upgraded and became the University Publishing Centre headed by a
director. Besides an Administration Section, there are also the Editorial and Production Section, Design
and Creative Media Section, Sales and Marketing Section and the Pertanika Journal Section. UPM Press
runs its operation with income generated through the sale of published books and professional
publication services offered to all the Responsibility Centres at UPM and agencies outside UPM.
As a premier institution of learning that is widely recognized for leadership in research and innovation,
UPM continues to strive for excellence. In order to motivate the overall University community towards
achieving excellence, it ensures that all the members, including students and staff, share the responsibility
of strictly adhering to the demands of the University’s vision, mission and goals.
The publication of books, journals and other scientific manuscripts in both Malay and English are
produced by academics and employees for the purpose of expanding the current body of knowledge,
disseminating knowledge and information for the benefit of all mankind, promoting UPM, and supporting
its vision and mission.
This active role is played by the UPM Publisher, which is a department that is also responsible for
documenting and disseminating the knowledge generated by the University. What is remarkable is that
the books published by UPM Publishers are not only used by UPM students themselves, but also by other
public and private HEIs.

Students can benefit from the publications produced by visiting the UPM Publisher. A wide selection of
titles and publications covering many topics can be purchased at affordable prices. Books published as
