Agent Sasco

- THE DAM'D OPERATION -


OVERVIEW:
Agent Sasco is a secret agent on his way up stream on a Jet Ski towards the dam. His
mission is to assassinate Colonel Sabravskji and secure a very dangerous weapon. You
are most of the time connected to the agency through a woman called Janet. The dam is
a cover up for an underground base and secret laboratory working on a new weapon.
Your side mission is to also blow up the whole dam! On your way up stream the control
doors suddenly open and you have to hurry ashore before a flood flushes you away. Safely
on dry land the game intensifies and the mission can begin. The dam is being renovated
and you have to get past a couple of guards. Stealth and not being notised is esential.
You can kill guards, hide them, take their clothes and hide the bodys. On your way towards
your main objective you should also plant c-4's on the dam's weak spots. Then you can
start climbing the wall and remember, stay out of the spotlight. When you finaly masterd
your way through the level and up the wall you have to take out the Colonel, retrieve the
weapon and escape in the chopper.

GOAL:

blow up the god dam!

Assault rifles with or without explosive ammo (explosive ammo is more
like dumdum bullets with a bit more expansion power in form of an explosion.
It can tear small holes in walls of concrete, not nearly as big as grenades
would though: More like 1/10 of a small grenades explosion power)
DIFFICULTY & SAVES (The amount of saves are per level):
Janet works a bit like a tutorial to try skip the boring and always time taking tutorial levels as
much as possible. This level is in the beginning of the game so Janet will explain quite a bit. You
shouldn't how ever need any tutorial and you know all about this characters special abilities from
earlier levels and explanations from Janet. Which are; mostly sneaking around, climbing and
swinging with superb agility, breaking necks, taking clothes preferably not torn or bloody to
keep the disguise as good as possible, moving the bodies so they wont be found, staying in the
dark or background and not getting caught. Getting caught makes the game really hard, almost
impossible in times. Stealth is essential.
But you will be awarded different achievements depending on how you play the game. If you kill
everyone you get the "indiscretion is king" award, if you don't shoot anyone you get the "sneaky
chicken" award. If you don't take clothes to blend in you get the "careless bad ass" award. This
is for the fans, for the reply value.
You have a different amount of saves depending on difficulty; it is an element of this game since
stealth is the core game play. Basically you should need to wisely choose your saving points.
EASY: unlimited saves
NORMAL: 6 saves
HARD:
AGENT:
3 saves
No saves and more guards, 1 patrolling the base of the dam, one more
on the scaffolding and 2 times more in the guardhouse). The Guardhouse
holds 6 guards normally.
TIME AND PLACE:
The level starts in dusk and turns into night as the agent starts sneaking towards the Dam.
There is a light fog hanging above the canyon. It takes place in the middle of nowhere Alaska.
It's Cold but not freezing, no snow but frosty, "breath steam" and wet. The surroundings are
filled with big hills, thick woods and big fir-trees.
MOOD, ATMOSPHERE AND PACING:
The main mood in this game is to make stuff that are just a bit unreal to feel realistic, kind of like
James Bond without the class. To make this believable I also put in a good amount of humor
in dialog and all human expressions and the way people talk are just a bit exaggerated. The
game also uses quick turns between humour and seriousness to create contrast in the player's
feelings and to throw him/her of guard. Even though its a "sneak game" the game is quite fast
paced. Things happen on a regular basis to keep the player sharp and to keep the secret agent
feel. The canyon is narrow to make the player feel vulnerable, as is with the fog, night and cold
Alaskan environment. When you see the dam and huge wall you get the feel of a big task and
tall challenge ahead. The lady speaking from time to time, always connected with Agent Sasco
through satellite, is there to make the player feel like a part of something very unique and secret
with all this high tech mambo jambo. But as the game progresses you understand that Agent
Sasco doesn't like to use unnecessary high tech stuff. He's more for the old school approach of
solving stuff. This develops into a very entertaining small clash between him and Janet whom
tries to force new technology on him, basically to keep him alive. Its also quite obvious that they
have a special relationship to give the player a bigger sense of attachment and not wanting to
fail her. A tiny bit of contradiction is always good too.
The pace of this level is fast, the action starts of almost straight away with the unexpected wave
becoming a sudden challenge. When there are slower parts of the game I have implemented
important conversations. I start the game straight away with a jet ski on the go and you can
control it a bit to avoid rocks in the streaming river. At the same time the agents link explains the
mission. I also have rewarding special kills and nice small cut scenes to keep the "Woaw" feel.
The first kills are easy but they get harder before you killed everyone on the ground floor and
go for the planting of the last c-4's. There I take down the pace a bit to give the player some
breathing space and to not make him frustrated. Now some small rewards arrive and you start
climbing the wall. This is quite challenging but also very rewarding and fun because of the not
so common task and the intuitive feel. Well up you get a rewarding kill to make the player feel
that he really achieved something special and hard. Now he/she stands in front of the final
challenge and this is where the sneaking doesn't really matter anymore but the timing and
FPS skills come in to play. The level ends with well timed actions and a very spectacular and
rewarding end scene.
STEP BY STEP DETAILED WALK-THROUGH (with cut scenes and dialog):
Starts of with a playable cut scene: (third-person-view on a jet ski going up the stream towards
the dam, the river rumbles, is quite narrow and fierce. What you need to do is avoid rocks and
so. This shouldn't be hard at all it's just to keep your focus and interest. You can steer to avoid
rocks but you can't turn around our control the speed):
- Agent Sasco do you copy, Ben are you there
- Loud and clear Janet loud and clear
- Good, we're terribly sorry for the rude awakening call but time is the issue so I'll cut right to it.
-Brief me
- We just fond out of a very important meeting taking place this evening. There should be a
chopper arriving above you right about now, can you .. ?
(Looks up and sees a chopper fly across over the canyon)
- Spot on as usual
- It's carrying your target, Colonel Sabravskji. Now listen carefully, he will probably arrive with
bodyguards and a briefcase, loaded with cash. This small dam is merely a cover-up for a
secret base and laboratory, known to recently have been working with several private military
contractors
- Mercenaries
-Yes, and terror organisations.
- Business as usual
-Well it's time to put an end to this god damn!
- (Sarcastically) very cleaver Janet, so you need me to light the fireworks?
- Sabravskji is here to collect a new kind of weaponry, never before seen, highly sophisticated
and ...
- And very lethal/ presume
- In the wrong hands, probably of cataclysmic proportions. Also extremely delicate so please
handle with care
- Like my own 9mm silencer
- So, to be clear, the objective is to secure the merchandise, execute the colonel and ...
-And create a god damn deluge
-(Giggles) ...
(You just get around a corner, the earth rumbles and water comes flooding. This definitely
deafens the sound of the motor and reassures no one hears your arrival)
-What was that, this can't be, quickly get ashore, they've opened the control gates!
(You try to hurry ashore; you will want to turn left because the steep is too high on your right
hand side. If the wave catches you a small cut scene shows you getting flushed away to certain
death. If you turn left a small cut scene shows the deluge just touches your tail and gives you a
last push up on dry land. The camera slowly moves from third-person- to first-person-view, he
stands up and sees the jet ski leaning towards a tree, cut scene over, let the game begin.)
- (Cough) ... touche
-Are you OK?
-Shore ..
- Your sense of humour never dies does it ... no time to waste! All you need is on the Jet Ski,
underneath the seat.
-Of course (Moaning)
- Advance towards the base, you have a slight advantage coming from below. The whole place
is a mess because of construction work and this is your way in. Since there is really no way up
besides climbing the 200ft dam there are much lesser guards to worry about. But beware the
huge spotlight. If you are seen the whole operation might be jeopardized, stealth is essential up
until the place is rigged and we have what we came for. The briefing is in your Intel, and I will be
following you through satellite. Good Luck Ben.
You walk up to the washed ashore scooter and pick up 4 C-4s, 1 detonator, and yours truly
silenced 9 mm pistol and start walking towards the dam. Above you on the other side of the
river there are two guards patrolling but you merely see their flashlights searching around and
disappear further away.
- Ben, it seems as if the short opening of the gates merely was a mistake due to all the
reparations, at least so we pray.
-It's not Sunday and I don't go to church
- Now, the chopper is landing and the colonel will be on his way to the meeting shortly, it is
probably in the base beneath the dam and the only way down is a lift from the top that goes
through the dam wall
- (Stupid short laugh)
- (Stutters irritated) It's not the same elevator you take from the bottom of the dam to get up and
be careful of using that one because you will arrive in the guardhouse probably surrounded by
armed guards. The security is a/so very advanced and almost impossible to breach without the
right authorization so a// you have to do is get to the top before the meeting is over and wait for
the colonel to leave.
- You make it sound so easy
-And also we have found two weak spots on the dam, one in the left corner where the lifts go
down and thins the wall and the other to the far right where the water flows down to the turbines.
Now the exchange shouldn't take long, we estimate you have about 20 minutes before he gets
back up in the lift, hopefully with a bulletproof briefcase in his hand. Now as I said, be cautious,
they might have secret escape routs that we do not know of if they sense danger so please
keep that trigger happy finger of yours in check. You're on your own now trigger happy cowboy.
Be on the lookout.
The first enemy is a stray guard standing by the river bank having a smoke, you can sneak up
on him from behind, break his neck and take his clothes ,to blend in, and gun preferably not to
be used though but in handy if you get caught. If you shoot him he might stain the clothes with
blood and they will make you easier to spot. Now you can drag the body to hide it or just push it
into the river. Another guard is at this point standing in front of the first turbine room.
You get to the corner and see a huge spotlight searching the dam wall. In the spotlight you
might see a guard on the scaffolding. A couple of guards might also be seen patrolling the top, if
it's not too far away in the mist. It has now become night and is pitch dark except for the search
light, floodlights on top and small door lamps. It's a narrow river and also a very narrow bank
with a couple of big fir-trees before the big canyon wall stretches 200ft straight up. The river is
probably about 30ft across.
(If a guard finds you or any dead bodys they will alert the whole base and your mission will be
compromised. If this happens Janet will tell you this:
-The subject has been warned and the mission has been compromised. You must now hurry
and finish your objectives before they manage to escape. It seems they only have the chopper
and a boat dock, either way they need to get up the lift again so hurry your self up there.)
Your always better of killing as little as possible so you head for the guard outside the first
turbine room. Preferably you walk towards him with your disguise on and shoot him in the head
to get a nice clean kill and then drag him into the turbine room. Where you now can plant your
first c-4 on the turbine. Now you sneak out and see that the coast is clear. The two guards that
were patrolling the bank are on their way back. The preferred way to hide is to run over and into
the next generator room. There are many other ways to hide. Either way the guards will shortly
arrive just outside the second turbine room and they have an ongoing conversation as they
arrive: (you barely hear the first words)
- Man it sucks being stuck down here
-Yeah the whole place is a mess
- It's about time they got a technician down here to fix the elevator.
-At least some part of the dam hopefully work again,
-I can tell you this, I don't feel safe knowing all that water is above us.
-(laughs resignedly) I don't get it, they have a super high tech base or lab or what ever, but still
the whole place is falling apart.
-Have you heard of the new ammunition, some sort of exploding ammo?
- Apparently some guards have been trying it out.
- What are they so afraid of, does anyone even know how to get here?
- Yeah yeah it's your turn to check the turbine room
-God
-Dam (short self observed laugh)
- (Giggles ridiculing whiles opening the door) man that joke is older than your grandma' (door
closes) well it looks quite dead in here as usual.
- Just have a look around will ya
-Yeah yeah yeah ...
He might spot you but hopefully you take him out with your silenced gun before he gets a
chance to alert the other guards. If he sees you he'll go:
-Huh?! shit ... enemy alert! (and start shooting)
And the second after he'll alert the base. If you shoot him before their conversation is over and if
he sees you and starts his last line of words you will alert the other guard and he will start calling
out for your victim:
-Yo, what happened? .. Shit ain't funny man ... you better answer me now or I'll have to alert the
whole base and ... shit .. .if this is another of your stupid as jokes we are so fired man ...
The second after he finishes the last sentence he will have alerted the others so you will have to
hurry out and finish him before it is too late. If you on the other hand do a clean kill you can just
sneak out besides him and finish him. But if you don't act instantaneously he will notice it isn't
you after finishing this sentence:
-So no live rats this time either? What the .. ?! ALERT!!
So you basically need to finish him before his done talking.
If you choose to hide outdoors you can instead take the guard who stays outside first and then
go in and kill guard Nr 2. What ever happens, don't forget to hide the body's and place the C-
4 on turbine Nr 2. With that done you continue to the base of the dam wall to place out the 2
remaining C-4s by the two weak spots at the far end of both sides. When you finally arrive Janet
will start talking to you again:
-Agent Sasco, be aware of the spotlight, if it catches you or any body on the ground or falling
down it will call red alert and all hell breaks loose. Now there are several ropes hanging down
the wall to transport building material. When you're done planting the C-4s, that's your way up.
Don't forget to save now, things might get messy ...
So you need to watch out for the spotlight, if it catches you it will signal red alert and guards
will start shooting down from above and climbing down the ropes to get to you. It shouldn't be
to hard to place these two C-4s since the spotlight only is on the wall and mainly higher up. If
you by the way go in to the elevator through the small door in the wall to your left you will only
find a broken elevator and a working technician. When you sneak towards the scaffolding you
will see a guard peeing from the second floor to the right on the scaffolding. If you shoot him
he falls down and you can pick up his gun with explosive ammo. But beware of the spotlight so
that the body falling isn't caught. If you don't shoot he will eventually finish his needs and keep
patrolling the scaffolding. Now its time to plant the last C-4s, when you are done, start climbing
up the scaffold to get to the ropes. You don't need to use the ladders but the ladders are a bit
quicker than climbing directly on the scaffolding. Be aware of the guard, if you didn't already kill
him preferably kill him and get the explosive ammo. Look out for the spotlight by hiding behind
pallets. When you eventually reach the ropes walk up to one of them and grab it. Now you
have quite a lot of freedom in movement climbing the ropes because of the slight angle of the
wall. You must time your swings to avoid the spotlight though. The more you swing from side to
side the further distances you can cover. It's hard to slow down a swing so timing is essential.
When you move sideways and are close to a new rope you can simply change ropes with a
simple push of a button and keep momentum in the direction you are running. To move up- and
downwards you simply press up and down. You can use duck and jump as usual too, only jump
will now make you jump out from the wall and duck will make you lie flat against the wall. If you
manage to get to the top with the middle rope their will be a guard right above you whom you can
simply, with a quick time event, strangle with your rope, pull him over the rail and hang him. A
small cut scene appears to show the move. It will be a cool award for making it to the top. At the
same time you swap places with out being noticed. But yet again, beware not letting the spotlight
see the body fall. It will land on top of the scaffolding behind a pallet so the spotlight wont see the
body after that. If you choose another rope to the top you might get caught trying to sneak over
the rail. Well up and still undercover you will hear the helicopter start up its engines and see the
lift door open. Now Janet starts talking again:
-Ben, it seems as if some guards have a new type of ammunition
- (Whispers) Explosive
-Yes ... (Stutters) how did you know, never mind, you have to act fast. Sabravskji has got
the weapon, but even though it's in a bulletproof container it might not take a direct hit from
the explosive ammo. Now the chopper might not either take the explosive ammo, the rotor
most certainly won't. You need to take out the pilot so he doesn't take of, but the engines do
need a minute or so to start up. So try to get rid of the guards with the explosive ammo before
executing the mission, now go! Before it's to late ...
The colonel is now walking from the lift with 2 bodyguards towards the helicopter which already
started up its engines. You can start in which end you want but you need to make sure that the
chopper doesn't take of, the colonel doesn't flee and that the guards with the explosive ammo
don't shoot down the chopper or get a direct hit on the gear and kills you all. A preferred way
is to get the colonel swift and then his two bodyguards by his side. They will try to go for the
briefcase, run for cover and flee to the chopper or boat. You could probably get all three of them
with the explosive ammo but be careful not to hit the briefcase directly. By now everybody will
be shooting at you but there is cover in many strategic places. You will see that the guards with
explosive ammo are shooting at you from the bridge and boat. If you aim at the boat with your
own explosive ammo it will explode and takeout the guards with it At the same time you should
be running towards the briefcase and continue for cover. By now you will have more guards
rushing out from the guard house and the rest of the guards and bodyguards have probably
taken cover. You will also probably by now also hear the engines fire up and getting ready for
lift off. If it comes to this Janet will speak:
- Ben, the chopper, its lifting of, get the pilot!
You can either shoot him, not with your explosive ammo though. Or run for the chopper and try
to drag him out of it. Shots will be raining from all over. Get rid of the bodyguards by the chopper
in the sprint (they might even get shot by the raining bullets from behind) and jump for the pilot's
door. If you get there with the briefcase you have made the level and an end cinematic will start.
END CINEMATIC: (Third-person-view: You will pull out the pilot, jump in and lift of at the same
time the camera zooms in on your face, you lift up your hand with the C-4 trigger and you give
it a firm push. The camera goes back to first-person-view and you look out and down. 4 booms
go off almost simultaneously, throws everyone to the ground and the bullets stop raining. You
close the door and look forward. At the same time you turn the chopper towards the base and
it explodes again, from below and through the lift. Now the whole structure slowly gets washed
away with a huge swell. Like a god dam deluge.
If you don't get the colonel straight away or one of his bodyguards get the device they might
try to escape with the boat instead, it depends on whether the boat or the chopper is nearest.
Now if the colonel gets to the chopper before its ready for lift off, he will be sitting their and the
bodyguards will be standing in front of him, trying to protect him until the chopper is ready to lift
of and then jump in and keep on shooting at you from the open side. You can try to kill them
and the colonel when he is seated, in that way you already got the briefcase where you want
it. You will also be able to shoot the pilot before the chopper has reached a hover more than 5
feet above ground. There it will hover and turn for a couple of seconds before it takes off and
the game is over for sure. If you shoot explosive ammo, though, the chopper will most likely
explode. Also you might wonder why you cant escape with the boat, basically because a part of
your mission is to blow up the dam and if you are in a boat you will most certainly be dragged to
your own death.
If the base is alerted you only have a few minutes before the colonel will get up from the
basement and flee. Since the chopper takes time to start he will probably head for the boat.
When he gets out from the lift Janet will say:
- Hurry the colonel is heading for the boat. And your escape rout is a/so starting up its engines.
By now the chopper will probably be lifting off so you will have to kill the pilot and the
colonel. Then collect the briefcase, kill everyone else and get to the chopper. It will be almost
impossible.
Colonel Sabravskji is a very skilled shot with his magnum and will take cover and start firing
if he doesn't manage to flee or if you don't manage to kill him straight away whilst you still are
undercover.
