PREFACE This manual provides the instructions for the replacement of all the components that may become worn or damaged during normal usage of the machine.
For each model gives full details of the replacement part numbers with supporting diagrams to show the location of the components.
Service Instructions
WARNING
Give the recommended servicing procedure with supporting pictorial diagrams for added clarity.
1. Check the machine RATING PLATE DETAILS are compatible with the electrical mains supply. 2. Disconnect the electrical mains supply before removing any covers. 3. After removing the cover on single phase machines DISCHARGE the capacitor by shorting out its connections. (BEWARE: PAPER DUST IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD). 4. The machine MUST have a sound Electrical Earth Connection.
Product Testing after Servicing or Repair. IMPORTANT. If any electrical component has been changed, an electrical connection broken and remade, or any wiring disturbed, the product being repaired or serviced must be flash tested or PAT tested. This test must be carried before a product is handed back or returned to the customer or returned to stock. The test must be appropriate for the machine being repaired. E.g. double insulated of earthed. A competent person should conduct the test and keep a log of all machines tested, the serial number of the machine, the details of the test, the test results and the date the test was carried out. SECTION 17 REPLACEMENT OF AUTO STOP AND START SENSORS (FIG 11) N.B. SUSPECT SENSORS SHOULD FIRST BE CLEANED OF PAPER DUST AND INK BEFORE TESTING IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:1. 2. 3. Remove the top cover (see section 1). The auto sensors are fixed centrally to the infeed chute. Connect spare switch pad ribbon cable and switch on power. WARNING MACHINE IS NOW LIVE. Set test meter to DC and measure voltage as indicated in Fig 11. Note: on PCB test point is provided adjacent to the sensors loom shown. A special lead will be required (contact Technical services for availability). With clean sensors, unobstructed, the maximum voltage should be 0.5V. The sensors should now be obstructed with paper and the voltage again measured. WARNING THE MACHINE WILL NOW OPERATE. This voltage should be a minimum of 6.0V. Should the meter reading be outside the above voltages then the sensors should be replaced. Disconnect meter and power to machine; remove ribbon cable and leads from PCB. Remove hinged cover on the feed chute.

SECTION 22 TIMING 1/1 GEARS (FIG 16) To obtain an acceptable uniform chip the cutters may require timing. This is achieved when re-meshing any one of three adjacent teeth on one of the 1/1 gears. Run machine to establish state of cut, if chip is not clean and to size proceed as follows:1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Remove the top cover (see section 1). Remove hinged cover (see section 2). Remove feed drive belt (see section 5). Remove autofeed unit complete (see section 3). Remove cutting head (see section 8). Disconnect all necessary leads and break cable ties. Remove screws securing gearbox sideframe to tie bar and PCB support plate. Remove screws securing de-jam plate, sideframe and gearbox cover and separate gearbox from cover. Note position of 1/1 gears and mark one tooth of each gear where they mesh.
9.
10. Slide off 1/1 gear and rotate clockwise by one tooth. Re-engage gear and re-assemble cutting head and return to cabinet to test for cut. 11. Should chip not improve then repeat steps 2-10 but rotate gear by two teeth ant-clockwise. 12. Reassemble in reverse sequence and check cut with final test. DEM ISSUE 4 NOVEMBER 05 PAGE 39
