What is spreadsheet?

An electronic document in which data is arranged in the rows and columns of a grid and can be

Row

A row is a grouping of cells that run from the left to right of a page. Numbers are used to

designate each row’s location.

Column

A column is a grouping of cells that run from the top to the bottom of a page. Letters are used to
designate each column’s location.

Cell

A cell is a box in which you can enter a single piece of data. You can identify a cell with letters
and numbers

Formula

Is an expression telling the computer what mathematical operation to perform upon a specific

value.
Methodology

Engagement: Students will be engaged in the lesson through an online game of

mentimetre. They will be given the word Spreadsheet and they should type any word that

comes to their mind. After which students will formulate a definition for Spreadsheet.

Exploration: Students will be given five-minute to conduct research on the different terms that

is written on the board. After which, they will present their findings to the class.

Explanation: After the time given to the students to do their research, the teacher will call on the

students to present their findings by raising their hands and wait until the teacher call on them.

After which the teacher will then present a PowerPoint presentation to give the students a

description of each term, so that they can better understand each term.

Elaboration: Students will then be given a set of instructions to create a spreadsheet in pairs.

Students will be given 10 minutes to complete this activity. See Appendix A

Evaluation: To test students understanding of what was taught, the teacher will provide students

with a worksheet to complete. This activity is to be done to test students understanding of the

topic and to see if the teacher would need to go over any misconception that the students may

have. See appendix B
